The NFC East shapes up to be a two-team race between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. Today, we will take a look at why the Eagles will overtake the favored Cowboys and win the Division. Check out all of the top new sportsbooks for betting on the NFL.
As Dallas fans became highly frustrated with the losses of Amari Cooper, Cedrick Wilson, La’el Collins, and Randy Gregory this offseason, the only way to ease those losses was to hit on some highly notable and talented players in the NFL draft. They did to some extent, but the reality is that Dallas could play second fiddle to the Eagles or even the Commanders in the NFC East. What they lost is more than what they replaced. Sure, you could say they have the best quarterback in the Division, but they have had that for a while, and it has not helped them as much as you would think. Ezekiel Elliot keeps getting older, and the shelf life for running backs is usually not that long. Last year, the defence under Dan Quinn showed improvement and looks even better this year, especially upfront. Check out the top sports betting sites!
They got better by trading for talented wide receiver A.J. Brown and teaming Brown up with second-year wideout DeVonta Smith. They will have the best 1-2 punch in the Division. Question marks surround Quarterback Jalen Hurts, but he won’t have to be spectacular for the Eagles to win because he is surrounded by talent. The Eagles already have a big-time running game to help Hurts out also. The most significant improvement may have been made on the defensive side of the ball for the Eagles. The Eagles improved their defense by selecting massive defensive tackle Jordan Davis in the first round and linebacker Nakobe Dean in the third round. Dean may end up being one of the steals of this draft.
Jalen Hurts as the starting quarterback scares me, but the talent around him will help out immensely and let’s face it, I do not trust a team coached by Mike McCarthy and owned by Jerry Jones. The Eagles closed the talent gap enough to overtake the Cowboys with their grittiness and toughness! I also think the Giants and Commanders will be much improved, which means they are no longer the worst Division in football. That moniker now belongs to the AFC South.
