A two-year extension of the Las Vegas Raiders and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow has been reached with a $32 million payment. There is a $21 million guarantee, according to ESPN. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on the NFL.
Renfrow was eligible for a new contract after catching 103 passes in 2021. This is the second-highest single-season total by a receiver in franchise history behind the 104 receptions Hall of Famer Tim Brown received in 1997. Renfrow also caught nine touchdown passes last year, leading the Raiders to the playoffs, where they lost 23-16 to the eventual AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals.
Renfrow’s career includes 208 receptions for 2,299 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Renfrow was a fifth-round pick out of Clemson in 2019 by the Raiders. He was to finish his rookie contract last year and earn $2.54million in base salary.
This is the third extension this offseason that the Raiders have given to homegrown talent. It follows deals to QB Derek Carr and defensive end Maxx Crosby.
The raiders will be looking to build off last year’s success with some key additions to the team that should make the Raiders a contender in the AFC West. Renfrow will continue to work from the slot with Davante Adam. Adams was acquired by the Raiders in a blockbuster deal on March 18, after eight seasons with Green Bay Packers. He will take over the offense’s No. 1 receiver spot while Renfrow will be the number two guy; between the two, they make one of the most potent 1-2 receiver combos in the NFL; throw in an elite Tight End like Darren Waller and quarterback Derek Carr has to be excited for the 2022 season to begin.
The NFL Network first reported Renfrow’s extension.
