NFL news? We’ve got you covered! The following are the Grueling Truth’s top stories from around the league for Friday, August 25th.
The only problem I see with this is that both men can’t get in. Robert Brazile revolutionized the position of outside linebacker and was the precursor to the legendary Lawrence Taylor. Brazile is one of the top 5 outside linebackers in NFL history and it is an absolute disgrace that he has not been elected yet. Jerry Kramer was an outstanding guard for Lombardi’s Packers and should be a slam dunk in the hall of fame also. I think something needs to be done to get the older greats into the Hall: Guys like Eddie Meador, Ken Anderson, Joe Klecko and many others should have been elected long ago.
Kelvin Benjamin has had an unbelievable training camp and he just added to the excitement by catching a TD pass from Cam Newton in Newton’s first drive of the season. With these two looking healthy and back on the field, the Panthers look to be a contender once again.
Cutler seems to be starting to jell with his wide receivers and, with the weapons the Dolphins have, this could spell trouble for AFC secondaries. According to Dolphins coach Adam Gase, “It seems like his pocket presence is coming back pretty quick. He made some nice stepups and sliding in the pocket to find some lanes; there were some broken plays where he hooked up with some guys. I thought that was a step in the right direction. Last week, he was kind of still feeling his way out and tonight he looked more comfortable.”
From what I saw, Jay Cutler is a long way from getting the Dolphins into contending with the New England Patriots, but overall the night had to be encouraging for Dolphins fans.
