Look here; we have the Eagles vs the Chiefs in the Super Bowl! Amazingly the NFL gets the game they wanted; imagine the luck? For the next two weeks, we can hear ESPN and the NFL talk about how great it is that we have the first matchup between black quarterbacks in NFL history; wait, there’s more! Andy Reid against his old team, the Kelce brothers being the first two brothers to play each other in a Super Bowl. All these incredible stories will be there for ESPN to report, and they love stories like this.
What happened on Sunday in both games will tell you that the NFL higher-ups had their hands planted deep in the officials’ asses as a puppet master does.
The 49ers got blown out, so there is nothing to see here, right?
A couple of early plays will show you what was going on. The first play was the Phantom catch by Devonta Adams, the ball clearly hit the ground, and Smith didn’t even think he caught it as he tried to hurry up everybody because he knew he didn’t catch the ball.
Play number two, the 49ers are flagged for roughing the punter that gave the Eagles an automatic first down. Mason, the 49ers defender, was clearly pushed into the punter. The amazing thing is how the announcers never even mentioned the push into the kicker.
Sure the 49ers ended up playing without a quarterback and had no chance, but these happened when the game was still up in the air and the 49ers still had a chance.
That brings us to the AFC Championship game, where the officials and the NFL absolutely cheated the Cincinnati Bengals. The bad thing this morning is when you listen to all of the talking heads on ESPN, FOX, the NFL Network etc… discuss the calls and the no-calls and act like the game we saw was not the game that happened at all! The Chiefs get an extra play for no reason, the Bengals stop the Chiefs on third down, and the Punt team comes on the field until head ref Rob Torbert comes in and tells us that the play never happened because it was blown dead. A back judge can be seen running up and waving his hands but then backs up and lets the play occur! The Bengals get the stop, and the Chiefs redo the play. Sure the Bengals got a legit defensive holding on the play and gave up a first down, but that gave the Chiefs an extra 15 yards of field position. Why not just fix the clock and make it fourth down?
Intentional grounding? The Bengals Joe Burrow was flagged for intentional grounding when it was clear that Samaje Perine was about 5 yards from where the ball landed. A little later,
Patrick Mahomes was not called for the same thing as he threw the ball into the ground, and Travis Kelce was 5 or 6 yards from the ball. CBS did not even replay the play!
Real quick, I just remembered something, I remembered that Sunday night game earlier in the season when the Raiders got a bogus penalty called on them and the Chiefs were gifted a first down on a missed field goal.
This entire Raiders vs Chiefs game was shady!
On the Bengals, last drive Burrow was hit a few seconds after throwing the ball, and nothing was called; I think if the Bengals hit Mahomes the same way, it would have been called.
The last penalty on Joseph Ossai, I am fine with that call. He hit him late, but two clear holds by the Chiefs were not called.
Now the NFL will make sure the talking heads on their networks will toe the company line and defend the officials. They will mock people that try to call out these officials. The NFL is a complete joke, and the history of shady calls in NFL playoff games is so wide-reaching that at some point, you need to step back as a fan of any team and realize that maybe you shouldn’t spend your hard-earned money on something that constantly makes you question whether the games are real or fixed?
Sports betting has been legalized and is approved by all sports leagues. Even if the NFL is not fixing the games when they can, is it possible that some refs are wagering money on the outcomes of games and then ensuring they get the needed outcomes? Sure it is; look at the NBA and Tim Donaghy. Legalized gambling makes everything a little more shady and brings a lot more decisions into the light.
What does all of this mean? If you are the Philadelphia Eagles, make sure you are up big or crazy things could happen. But then again, for all we know, maybe the NFL wants to give Jalen Hurts a ring. You never know anymore, and that is sad.
