Two of the NFL’s most explosive offenses meet under the Monday night lights when the Buffalo Bills travel to SoFi Stadium to face the Los Angeles Rams.
Buffalo enters 3-1 after suffering its first defeat of the season, a 29-26 home loss to New England. Los Angeles is 2-2 after rallying from a 10-point deficit to defeat Philadelphia 24-20.
The Rams are three-point home favorites in a matchup featuring the NFL’s two most recent MVP quarterbacks — Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford — and a 54.5-point total that reflects the offensive firepower on both sides.
Matchup: Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams Date: Monday, October 12, 2026 Kickoff: 8:15 PM ET TV: ESPN / ABC Venue: SoFi Stadium — Inglewood, California Tickets: As low as $128 Point Spread: Los Angeles Rams -3 Over/Under: 54.5
The teams’ previous meeting was unforgettable. Los Angeles defeated Buffalo 44-42 at SoFi Stadium in 2024, despite Allen accounting for six touchdowns. Stafford threw for 320 yards, Puka Nacua had 162 receiving yards and Kyren Williams rushed for 87 yards and two scores.
Buffalo’s offense remains one of the NFL’s most difficult units to defend.
Josh Allen has thrown for 1,039 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 66.4 percent of his passes. He has also rushed for 118 yards and an incredible seven touchdowns through only four games.
Running back James Cook gives Buffalo another major problem for opposing defenses.
Cook has rushed for 421 yards on 70 carries, averaging 6.0 yards per attempt with three touchdowns. Buffalo as a team is averaging better than five yards per rushing attempt.
Allen wasn’t at his best against New England, completing 23 of 33 passes for 253 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Cook rushed for 75 yards and a score, while Keon Coleman exploded for six catches, 116 yards and a touchdown.
One concern is the availability of DJ Moore, who missed Thursday’s practice with a shoulder injury. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver and cornerback Dee Alford also did not practice.
The Rams enter Monday averaging 417 offensive yards per game, second-best in the NFL entering Week 5.
Stafford has already thrown for 1,189 yards, averaging nearly 300 per game. His six interceptions are concerning, but his ability to attack downfield remains central to Sean McVay’s offense.
Los Angeles also has tremendous receiving talent.
Davante Adams leads the Rams with 390 receiving yards, while Puka Nacua has 199 yards despite playing only two games. Nacua returned against Philadelphia and immediately caught nine passes for 125 yards.
Then there’s Kyren Williams, who may be the most important player in the matchup.
Williams has rushed for 294 yards at 5.4 yards per carry while contributing another 173 yards as a receiver. Against Philadelphia, he produced 147 yards from scrimmage and scored two fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns.
Buffalo’s defense allowed 405 yards to New England last week, creating an opportunity for McVay’s offense.
Prop availability and numbers vary by sportsbook, so these are target numbers to consider if offered near these ranges.
Stafford has surpassed 300 passing yards in three consecutive games, throwing for 327, 390 and 317 yards during that stretch.
Buffalo has allowed 1,096 passing yards through four games, and the Rams throw on roughly 62 percent of their offensive plays.
Prediction: Matthew Stafford — 312 passing yards
Nacua looked healthy against Philadelphia, catching nine passes for 125 yards.
He also destroyed Buffalo in the teams’ previous meeting, producing 162 receiving yards.
With Stafford likely attempting 35-plus passes, Nacua should see another substantial target share.
Prediction: Puka Nacua — 96 receiving yards
Cook has topped 400 rushing yards through only four games and is averaging an outstanding six yards per carry.
Buffalo would be wise to establish Cook early rather than allowing Aaron Donald, Byron Young and the Rams pass rush to attack Allen every snap.
Prediction: James Cook — 82 rushing yards
Allen has already scored seven rushing touchdowns in four games, including one against New England.
When Buffalo gets close to the goal line, Allen remains one of football’s most dangerous short-yardage options.
Prediction: Josh Allen — Anytime Rushing Touchdown
Allen’s ability to extend plays will be critical against a Rams defense allowing only 145.5 passing yards per game entering Week 5.
Cook gives Buffalo its best opportunity to prevent Los Angeles from turning this into a pure passing battle.
Stafford is averaging nearly 300 passing yards per game, but six interceptions through four games are the major concern.
Nacua’s return changes the Rams offense significantly. Pairing him with Adams gives Stafford two elite receiving options.
Buffalo must pressure Stafford without allowing Nacua and Adams to create explosive plays. The Bills also need to protect the football after producing multiple sloppy performances recently.
Los Angeles needs to contain Allen’s scrambling ability and force Buffalo into long-yardage situations. The Rams defense has allowed only 247.5 total yards per game, second-fewest in the league entering Week 5.
The Rams must also avoid turnovers. Los Angeles enters with a minus-five turnover differential, largely because Stafford has thrown six interceptions.
The Rams deserve a slight edge at home, particularly with their defense playing at such a high level.
But Buffalo’s ability to run with Cook and Allen should prevent Los Angeles from simply attacking with its pass rush.
The matchup that could decide everything is Stafford against an injury-depleted Buffalo defense. With Nacua healthy again and Adams averaging nearly 100 receiving yards per game, Los Angeles has the weapons to exploit Buffalo’s secondary.
The 54.5 total is high, but these offenses are capable of producing another game resembling their 44-42 shootout from 2024.
Allen responds to Buffalo’s first loss with a strong performance, and Cook helps the Bills control portions of the game.
But Stafford, Nacua, Adams and Williams present too many matchup problems for a Buffalo defense that just surrendered 405 yards to New England.
Los Angeles wins another dramatic matchup at SoFi Stadium.
