The 2-0 Cincinnati Bengals open AFC North play Sunday against the 1-1 Pittsburgh Steelers in a matchup featuring two teams moving in very different offensive directions.
Cincinnati is coming off an impressive 20-6 road win over Houston. Joe Burrow completed 20 of 31 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns, both to Ja’Marr Chase, while Tee Higgins added 95 receiving yards. More importantly, Cincinnati’s rebuilt defense held Houston to 60 rushing yards and five conversions on 17 third downs.
Pittsburgh managed only 235 total yards in a 20-3 loss at New England. Aaron Rodgers went 23-of-39 for 187 yards with an interception, while the Steelers converted only two of 12 third downs. Pittsburgh has failed to reach 300 yards in either game and is averaging only 11.5 points per game.
The current market matches the supplied number: Cincinnati -3.5 with a 42.5 total, and Cincinnati around -188 on the moneyline.
Exact player props vary by sportsbook. The numbers below are projected betting targets unless your book offers them.
Brown has rushed for 136 yards on 36 carries through Cincinnati’s first two games. Pittsburgh’s defense has been much more vulnerable against the run than the pass, allowing 128 rushing yards per game and seven runs of at least 10 yards.
If Cincinnati plays from ahead, Brown should receive enough volume to clear this number.
Projected Bet: Chase Brown Over 64.5 Rushing Yards
After being held to two receptions in the opener, Chase responded with seven catches on nine targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns against Houston.
Pittsburgh has allowed very little passing yardage, so Cincinnati may emphasize quick throws rather than constantly challenging deep coverage.
Projected Bet: Ja’Marr Chase Over 5.5 Receptions
Rodgers has yet to develop a consistent vertical passing game. Pittsburgh is averaging only 175 passing yards per game, and Rodgers has not completed a pass traveling more than 20 yards in the air this season.
Cincinnati pressured C.J. Stroud on 43.5% of his Week 2 dropbacks and has produced four sacks in each of its first two games.
Projected Bet: Aaron Rodgers Under 199.5 Passing Yards
Pittsburgh’s defense has allowed only 16.5 points per game and seven sacks through two games, while Cincinnati just held Houston to six points.
That combination points toward another physical AFC North game rather than a shootout.
Bet: Under 42.5 Points
Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati: Has completed 68.2% of his passes for 461 yards, three touchdowns and one interception through two games.
Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati: Coming off two spectacular touchdown catches against Houston.
Chase Brown, RB, Cincinnati: Could become especially important against Pittsburgh’s more vulnerable run defense.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Pittsburgh: Needs a rebound after throwing for only 187 yards against New England.
T.J. Watt, EDGE, Pittsburgh: Already has 3.5 sacks, while Alex Highsmith has three.
D.K. Metcalf, WR, Pittsburgh: Has eight catches on 19 targets through two games. Cincinnati corner DJ Turner II held him to one reception on five targets across their two meetings last season.
Protect Burrow against Watt and Highsmith, establish Brown and avoid becoming one-dimensional.
Cincinnati will also be without No. 3 receiver Andrei Iosivas, who is headed to injured reserve with torn thumb ligaments. Burrow was described as sore coming out of Houston, making his practice participation worth watching during the week.
The Steelers desperately need offensive efficiency. They are averaging only 250 total yards per game and struggled badly on third down at New England.
Pittsburgh also needs more from its rushing attack to keep Cincinnati’s new defensive front from attacking Rodgers on every obvious passing down.
The Steelers’ defense is good enough to prevent Cincinnati from turning this into a blowout. Pittsburgh has forced four turnovers and recorded seven sacks through two games.
But Cincinnati appears to have the more complete team right now. The Bengals can pressure Rodgers, stop the run and still lean on Burrow, Chase and Higgins when they need a big offensive play.
These teams split last year’s meetings—Cincinnati won 33-31, while Pittsburgh answered with a 34-12 victory later in the season.
Expect a physical, low-scoring divisional game with Pittsburgh’s defense keeping things close into the second half.
The difference should be Cincinnati’s offensive firepower and dramatically improved defensive front. The Bengals create pressure on Rodgers late and leave Pittsburgh unbeaten.
Final Score Prediction: Cincinnati Bengals 23, Pittsburgh Steelers 16

Total Pick: Under 42.5
Moneyline: Cincinnati -188
