Top 5 Defensive Ends for the 2017 NFL Draft Updated 4/15/17

Top 5 Defensive ends 2017 NFL Draft!

1).  Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
Height: 6-5. Weight: 270.

Garrett looks right now to be the first player taken in the draft. If he s not the Browns will regret it forever. Garrett has an amazing first step, he is a freak athlete with amazing hips and he gets around the corner fast. He can get pushed around at the point of attack, but with the right coaching that is easily fixable. Garrett will be an elite pass-rusher from his first snap in the NFL.

2). Solomon Thomas, DE/OLB, Stanford
Height: 6-3. Weight: 273.

Thomas is a very intelligent high character who would actually fit perfect as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense or a defensive end in a 4-3 defense. He has an incredible burst off the line of scrimmage and runs the hoop as well as anybody in the country.

3). Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
Height: 6-3. Weight: 268.

Barnett much like Garrett has great hips and plays with great leverage. Can have trouble defending the run and will need to keep working on his strength when he gets to the NFL. He doesn’t have a lot of moves he tends to rely on his speed to get him by. He will not be able to make it in the NFL on speed alone, he needs to develop an inside counter move to become a dominant force at the NFL level.

4). Charles Harris, DE/OLB, Missouri
Height: 6-3. Weight: 260.

Harris is very intriguing and has a chance to be as good as anybody as an edge rusher. He has an explosive first step and a great spin move he redirects very quickly. The thing I think he needs to work on the most are his hips, he does not have the bend needed to run the hoop and get to the QB. If he improves the flexibility in his hips he can become a great player in the NFL.

5). Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan
Height: 6-6. Weight: 272.

Charlton will either be a standup Linebacker in a 3-4 or a Defensive end in a 4-3 defense. He was a backup at Michigan until this past year. He has good strength and plays fast. His biggest weakness is that he has a tendency to give up his shoulders and play high at times. If he can keep his pad level low and get leverage he has the ability to be a big-time player.
