NFL Power Rankings Week 6: A New Number One, The Chiefs Plummet and More

There's a new number one, Kansas CIty plummets, and only one team remains winless.

There’s a new number one, Kansas CIty plummets, and only one team remains winless. Where does your favorite team end up in the NFL Power Rankings Week 6?

  1. DETROIT LIONS (4-1): Jared Goff was almost perfect, and Aidan Hutchinson had his 5th sack in his last four games. Detroit has a tough game in week 6 against Kansas City in Arrowhead.
  2. BUFFALO BILLS (4-1): Turnovers in the red zone (three total turnovers vs New England) and penalties (11) cost them the game.
  3. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (4-1): The Eagles offense finds new ways to frustrate fans every week. Saquon Barkley was held to just 30 rushing yards on SIX carries, and had only ONE carry in the entire second half. Short week coming up against the Giants; that could be a trap game.
  4. GREEN BAY PACKERS (2-1-1): Green Bay had a BYE WEEK.
  5. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (4-1): Another dominant performance by the Colts. This team has been one of the biggest surprises in the league (2nd in points scored, 3rd in points allowed).
  6. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (4-1): Tampa Bay won a shootout, scoring 10 points in the final three minutes of the game. Baker Mayfield has been an MVP candidate thus far, and Emeka Egbuka is an early favorite for Rookie of the Year.
  7. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (4-1): Despite all the injuries to starters on both sides of the ball, this team continues to win. Mac Jones played great, and the 49ers dominated time of possession.
  8. WASHINGTON COMMANDERS (3-2): No Scary Terry, no problem! Rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (AKA Bill) finally had a breakout game – 14 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
  9. DENVER BRONCOS (3-2): If Denver doesn’t have the best defense in the NFL, then they’re on a shortlist. They sacked Jalen Hurts six times, held the Eagles to just 45 total rushing yards, and allowed only 2/11 third down conversions.
  10. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (4-1): Jacksonville fumbled, bumbled, and stumbled into a huge win against the Chiefs. Trevor Lawrence can’t be turning the ball over twice and expect to win most weeks.
  11. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (3-2): Hard to move them down too far despite the tough loss. Sam Darnold played well, but a late interception in their own territory cost Seattle the game.
  12. LOS ANGELES RAMS (3-2): A great game by Matt Stafford (389 yards and three touchdowns) was overshadowed by the loss. If Christian McCaffrey goes off on you, that’s one thing, but letting Mac Jones throw all over your defense is a bad look.
  13. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (3-2): Losing the game is one thing, but losing rookie first round pick running back Omarion Hampton to an ankle injury stings. After a 10-0 lead late in the 2nd quarter, the offense disappeared.
  14. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-1): Pittsburgh had a BYE WEEK.
  15. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (3-2): Carson Wentz went 9 for 9 on the game winning drive and continues to play well. Minnesota will now have two weeks to plan for the Philadelphia Eagles.
  16. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (2-3): The offense looked great, the defense forced two turnovers and three sacks, and Kansas City took the lead with less than two minutes left in the game. 13 penalties, including three on Jacksonville’s game winning drive, cost the Chiefs a win.
  17. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (3-2): Derek Maye continues to impress in the early going. Stefon Diggs had his best game of the season (10 receptions, 146 yards). Once the ground game takes off, this team could be dangerous.
  18. ATLANTA FALCONS (2-2): Atlanta had a BYE WEEK.
  19. HOUSTON TEXANS (2-3): C.J. Stroud had his best game of the season, and his second straight great game. Stroud completed 85% of his passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns. I know Baltimore didn’t have Lamar Jackson, but Houston’s defense dominated – allowed 207 total yards and forced three interceptions.
  20. CHICAGO BEARS (2-2): Chicago had a BYE WEEK.
  21. DALLAS COWBOYS (2-2-1): Dallas’ defense continues to suck – Justin Fields just threw his most touchdown passes in a game since 2023, and Breece Hall had just his second 100+ yard rushing game of the season. The Javonte Williams rebirth tour continues, as he had 16 carries for 135 yards and 1 touchdown. Williams is now third in the league in rushing yards and second in rushing touchdowns.
  22. ARIZONA CARDINALS (2-3): What an ugly loss. Arizona was up 21-6 with about 10 minutes left in the game and literally fumbled the game away. Two fumbles – one on offense, one on defense – led to a 14 point swing against the Cardinals in the fourth quarter.
  23. BALTIMORE RAVENS (1-4): Even if Lamar Jackson comes back 100% healthy sooner than later, I don’t know if it will matter. This team is totally broken on both sides of the ball. Cooper Rush threw three picks, Derrick Henry was held to 33 rushing yards, and the defense let Houston’s offense drop 44 points.
  24. CINCINNATI BENGALS (2-3): Signs of life from Ja’Marr Chase and the passing game, but this team can’t survive Jake Browning throwing three picks (eight total in his last four games). Enter the newly acquired Joe Flacco?
  25. CAROLINA PANTHERS (2-3): Rico Dowdle’s career day (23 carries, 206 yards, and a touchdown) carried the Panthers to a crazy comeback win. The run defense was absolutely stout against Miami, allowing only 19 total rushing yards on 14 attempts.
  26. NEW YORK GIANTS (1-4): The Giants clearly did not want to beat the Saints. New York committed five turnovers, including three in the 4th quarter – one of which went back for a touchdown. Expect growing pains from the all rookie starting backfield.
  27. MIAMI DOLPHINS (1-4): Tua played well against Carolina, throwing three touchdowns and completing 75% of his passes, but the rushing attack let him down. De’Von Achane had his worst game of the season, rushing for only 16 yards on 10 carries. The defense continues to disappoint.
  28. CLEVELAND BROWNS (1-4): Dillon Gabriel threw a touchdown pass to take the lead late in the 3rd quarter of his first start, but the Browns defense couldn’t get a stop at the end of the game to seal the win. Quinshon Judkins had his first 100 yard rushing game of his NFL career.
  29. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (1-4): Spencer Rattler played well against the Giants, but Alvin Kamara’s roller coaster season continues. Congrats to head coach Kellen Moore on his first win.
  30. LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (1-4): Two more interceptions thrown by Geno Smith, as the offense continues to struggle. When will Pete Carroll make a move at quarterback?
  31. TENNESSEE TITANS (1-4): Better lucky than good, I always say. The ball literally bounced the Titans way for their first win of the season. Cam Ward only turned the ball over once, and threw for a season high 265 yards in the win.
  32. NEW YORK JETS (0-5): The Cowboys were missing four offensive line starters and the Jets’ defense didn’t show up. Dallas ran for 180 yards, and Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes. The Jets are the only team in the NFL with zero takeaways, and they have the worst turnover differential in the league.
