6) New York Giants
As Gomer Pyle used to say, Suprise, Suprise! The New York Giants are playing well under new head coach Brian Daboll and they deserve this ranking. Daniel Jones has been just good enough and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale has been excellent at drawing up the correct game plans to give the Giants a chance to win games.
5) Cincinnati Bengals
Inept coaching has led to three close losses that never should have happened. Now we get to the portion of the season where Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense take over the show. The loss of D.J. Reader was really felt against a run-heavy Saints offense but overall, the defense has been very good this season.
4) Minnesota Vikings
It’s time to take the Vikings seriously as they have learned how to close out a game this season. Kirk Cousins is making clutch throws and Dalvin Cook is getting it done on the ground. The Vikings look poised to run away with the NFC North.

The Chiefs defense played good enough to win against the Bills on Sunday, but the offense could not get it done in the clutch on Sunday. If the Chiefs keep playing defense like this though it bodes well for the future.
