The Denver Broncos are on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks
on Monday Night Football. Denver ended the 2021 campaign at 7-10. They missed the playoffs. Seattle finished the 2021 campaign with an ugly 7-10 record. This is their worst record since 2011, when they were 7-9. They have faced each other 54 times during the regular season. The Broncos hold a 35-19 edge over their former AFC West rivals. This includes a 27-24 win at home in the most recent matchup, September 9, 2018.
The big story is the return of Russell Wilson to Seattle to take on his former team.
The Broncos were 19th last season in league passing offense, averaging 211.4 yards per match and 13th in rush offense with 119.1 yards per contest. Denver tied for 23rd in scoring offense, scoring 19.7 points per match and third in scoring defense, allowing 18.9 points per contest. Russell Wilson completed 259 out of 400 passes for 3,113 yards with 25 touchdowns, six interceptions and 33 sacks last season while still a Seahawk. He also added 183 yards and two scores to the ground. Melvin Gordon III was the leader in the ground game with 203 carries, 918 yards, and eight scores. Javonte Williams ran the ball 203 times, for 903 yards, and four scores in a timeshare. Courtland Sutton is the top returning pass catcher for the team, with 58 receptions and 776 yards. He also has two scores. Tim Patrick (53 receptions for 734 yards and five TD), was solid but is now out. This means that Jerry Jeudy (38 catches for 467 yards), tight end Albert Okwuegbunam (33.3 catches for 330 yards), two TD and Gordon III (28 catches for 213 yards, two TD), along with Williams (43 receptions for 316 yards, three TD), will all need to play this season. Brandon McManus made 33 of the 34 extra points and 26 of 31 field goals last season, with a long score of 61.
The Broncos have the weapons on offense and now they have the trigger man in Russell Wilson.
Seattle Seahawks Betting Tips
Seattle was just 7-10 last season, missing the playoffs. This was the first time Seattle has missed the playoffs since 2017, and only the second time in the past decade. The season was chaotic and discordant, leading to major offseason changes. Bobby Wagner left, Brandon Shell, Gerald Everett Reed, and Ethan Pocic all left via free agency. As if that weren’t enough, Seattle traded Russell Wilson from Seattle to Denver. This took their most-respected passer out of the equation, leaving them with more questions than answers. Given their current roster, Seattle appears to be poised for a rebuild rather than contending in 2022.
This will be the final season for Pete Carroll in Seattle. The team has suffered because of Carroll, and that tipping point will find its way into week one as Russell Wilson returns and shows that he is still an elite quarterback. The Broncos will roll in this game.
