Philadelphia last season, during Week 2, manhandled the Vikings, as it resulted in a 24-7 rout. While Cousins is well known for his prime-time struggles, the biggest issue here will be the Vikings’ lack of a running game and the fact that the Eagles are a far superior team at almost every position.
The Packers face another run-heavy opponent on the road with an inconsistent quarterback, Desmond Ridder. Green Bay’s pass defense shouldn’t be put under much strain and can focus on pressuring Desmond Ridder effectively. The Packers offense behind Jordan Love won’t have to score a lot to win this game.
Geno Smith’s time is drawing to a close; he started last year off strong and slowly dropped off as the season went along. Week 1 was more of the same for Smith.
Conversely, the Lions went into Kansas City and got a huge week one win. The Lions are the better team coming into this game.
Seattle desperately needs a win after suffering an unexpected home loss to the Rams in Week 1. The Lions will win this game and it won’t be close.
Pick: Lions 31 Seahawks 16(Take the Lions -6)
Bears fans should expect a difficult matchup against the Bucs as they’re facing off against a team with the run and secondary pieces capable of keeping Justin Fields at bay. Baker Mayfield should remain comfortable facing minimal pass rush, while Chicago’s corners will have their hands full with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin; expect Rachaad White to become more of a target too.
Pick: Tampa Bay 24 Chicago 14(Take the Bucs -3)
Miami’s offense can easily overwhelm New England’s defense with its focus on getting speedy players open field (Tyreke Hill is one such player) for Mike McDaniel. Tua should have another big day – this gives Tagovailoa an edge against college teammate Mac Jones due to reduced pressure and more support available to him.
