It’s week 17 of the NFL season on the gridiron, with an interconference clash in the Volunteer State. The Dallas Cowboys are out on the road to face the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football. Dallas defeated Philadelphia 40-34 in a critical victory. They were a four-point favorite at home in Saturday’s game and covered. Tennessee’s skid continued as they lost 19-14 against Houston. They were the three-point favorites in Saturday’s contest. Dallas holds an 8-7 lead in the series, but in the last meeting between the teams the Titans won 28-14 in Dallas. This matchup was held on November 5, 2018.
After a disappointing loss at Jacksonville in overtime, Dallas rebounded and defeated the Eagles in a thrilling affair on Saturday afternoon. The Cowboys are now at 11-4 and have earned a playoff spot. To win the division, they must win their final two games and hope the Eagles lose their last two games.
The Cowboys are currently 16th in league passing offense, averaging 222.9 yards per game. With 143.1 yards per game, Dallas is seventh is rushing offense. CeeDee Lamb (91 grabs for 1207 yards and eight touchdowns), Dalton Schultz (488 yards, three TD), Noah Brown (341 grabs for 538 yards), and Michael Gallup (35 catches for 375 yards, four TD) are all essential targets in the passing game. Elliott has 17 receptions for 92 yards, while Pollard has 39 grabs for 371 yards plus three scores. This gives the Cowboys two valuable safety valves in the backfield. Brett Maher has hit 22 of the 25 extra points and 19 of 24 field goals, with a long of 56.

These numbers were far more impressive than the 16-15 advantage in the first downs.
The Titans are currently 30th league in passing offense, averaging 168.6 yards per game. They also are 12th in rush offense, averaging 125.8 yards per game. Tennessee is 27th in the league in scoring offense, scoring 17.9 points per match and 11th in scoring defense, allowing 20.8 points per game. Ryan Tannehill was 212 of 325 passing for 2,536 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. He is fourth on the team with 98 yards rushing and two scores, but he was sacked 33 times this year. Malik Willis, 31, is 31-of-61 passing for 276 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions. He also added 123 yards on the ground. Derrick Henry leads this team with 319 carries, 1,429 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Next in line are Dontrell Hilliard (22/22 carries, 135 yards) and Hassan Haskins (11/50 yards). Robert Woods is the leader in the passing game, with 44 receptions for 448 yards and a touchdown. Bud Dupree (pectoral), Denico Autry (biceps), Dylan Cole, Zach Cunningham, and Zach Simmons (ankle) all missed practice Monday.
The Titans have lost five straight games and their season hinges on next week’s division title clash in Jacksonville. The Cowboys are the better team and will win this game easily.
