With their top two quarterbacks out, this is the worst team in these playoffs. If Skylar Thompson starts, the season will end assuredly in the first round. If Tua is cleared to play, though, the Dolphins would then be a very live dog in this game. With Tua playing earlier in the year, the Dolphins beat the Bills in Miami and then a few weeks back, with Tua at the helm, the Dolphins only lost by three points in Buffalo.
Geno Smith has been fantastic this year as he has salvaged his career from the junkyard. The Seahawks lost the previous two meetings with the 49ers by a combined score of 48-20, the Seahawks are good on offense but the defense ranks 26th in the NFL, which leads to a one-and-done.
The Bucs defense ranks tenth in the NFL, the issue is the offense ranks in the mid-twenties, and that will not get you very far in the playoffs. The offensive line lost people in the offseason and has had injury issues all season. If they weren’t playing the Cowboys, they would surely be one and done.
Last week, the Chargers played most of the game against the Broncos with their starters, and they got their butts handed to them; that is not a good sign! The talent is here for a darkhorse deep run into these playoffs. Unfortunately, the coaching is not there for that to happen.
The possibility at the start of the season that the Jaguars could make the playoffs would have been considered foolish, but here we are. Trevor Lawrence has started showing signs of being the franchise quarterback everybody thought he could be. The Jags get a favorable matchup against the under-achieving Los Angeles Chargers, who they beat in Los Angeles early in the season.
Brian Daboll should be the NFL coach of the year as the Giants have come from nowhere with a limited roster and made the playoffs. Daniel Jones has limited his turnovers and has played better than most people think. A matchup with the Vikings is very winnable, and the future looks bright for these Giants.
I rank the Ravens this high, assuming that Lamar Jackson will start this weekend in Cincinnati. At this time, that is not guaranteed to happen. The Ravens have one of the few defenses in the NFL that can match up with Cincinnati’s explosive offense. The question is can they score 20 or more points? If they can, they have a shot, and they only have a shot to do that with Lamar Jackson under center.
The record is undeniable, but are the Vikings that good? The defense is weak, but the offense is explosive. They have been blowout by Dallas, Philadelphia, and Green Bay. Their opening-round matchup against the Giants is a toss up but after that, the Vikings will be done.
The Cowboys are the most dangerous team in these playoffs, but their success will come down to one thing, can Dak Prescott get it done in a big-time situation? The Cowboys open up with a Tampa team that held them to three points in the season opener in Dallas. Dallas has all kinds of weapons but can Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy get it done in crunch time?
I am sorry, but I don’t buy that this is a Super Bowl-winning team. Jalen Hurts, to me, is not good enough to put this team on his back and take them across the finish line. The Eagles proved when Hurts was out that they need him to win games. Can he win at a playoff level?
The Bills are facing injuries in the secondary, and I think issues with Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. The Bills tend to play a lot of soft coverages, which could get them beat real quick by a Burroe or Mahomes. Make no mistake though the Bills are a serious Super Bowl contender.
The 49ers defense is a dominant unit and that makes them dangerous. On offense Mr Irrelevant Brock Purdy looks like the real deal, and if he is, the 49ers will end their season in the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs became better by letting Tyreek Hill leave. Patrick Mahomes has progressed and gotten better this season because of it. He no longer forces as many balls, and he is going thru his progression much better. The Chiefs are very dangerous, but they have already lost to Buffalo and Cincinnati.
The Bengals may have run into a huge roadblock on their way back to the Super Bowl. An offensive line that had shown major improvement towards the last two months of the season has now been decimated by injuries as they have lost the entire right side of their offensive line. With that being said, this is the most talented team in football, and if the offensive line can be average they have an excellent chance to repeat as AFC Champions.
