Team Storylines & Key Matchup Factors
Auburn Tigers
Enter the season with modest expectations, projected near the bottom half of the SEC and seen as underdogs in the title race.
Quarterback Situation: Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma transfer) is expected to lead, but coach Hugh Freeze has mentioned the possibility of rotating three QBs — Arnold, Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels, and freshman Deuce Knight.
Coach Freeze is banking on roster development and Arnold’s prior success (notably beating Alabama at Oklahoma) to spark a turnaround.
Baylor Bears
Led by SAWYER ROBERTSON, entering his redshirt senior season as the team’s undisputed starter after throwing for over 3,000 yards and 28 TDs last year under new OC Jake Spavital.
Defense Strength: LB Keaton Thomas, named preseason All-American and on multiple defensive trophy watchlists, anchors Baylor’s defense.
Despite an 8–5 finish in 2024 (Texas Bowl loss), they enter with confidence and offensive firepower
