The Elks were tied for last year, but things seem to be getting better in Edmonton headed into the 2022 CFL season. The Elks will be introducing an exciting offence group this season which could help to foster significant improvements. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on the CFL!
Not saying the Elks will compete for the Grey Cup, but they should at the least double their win total from last year. It will be crucial to see if quarterbacks Taylor Cornelius or Nick Arbuckle can consistently pass the ball to Armanti Edwards, Kenny Lawler and Derel Walker. Also, if a defence that allowed 27.0 points and tied for the most TDs conceded (31) can continue making progress in 2022.
A year ago, the Lions had a disappointing campaign with a record of 5-9. BC will decide between Nathan Rourke, a former Argonaut’s third-round pick, and Michael O’Connor as their quarterback after this past preseason.
Rourke didn’t see the field during BC’s preseason opener. O’Connor, however, was impressive as he completed 17 of 23 passes for at least 151 yards and one touchdown. Lucky Whitehead and James Butler are all strong support cast for the signal-caller who wins the job.
The Lions finished last season with a record of 2-5 at home, but they are the clear favourites to win this week’s matchup at Week 1. Although BC suffered a few bad defeats to the Blue Bombers, The Bombers are the defending back-to-back Grey Cup champions, and the Lions, for the most part, played everybody else tough. They appear to be a solid pick to open 2022. This should be an interesting early-season matchup to see where these teams stand?
