CFL Power Rankings

9. Edmonton Elks

The Edmonton Elks have good and bad news. The good news is that they aren’t nearly as bad as people thought after their defeat at the hands of the Lions in week 1. But here’s the bad news. They are still not very good. Although the Elks are a far improvement from 2021, when they lost all their home games and won only three of the season’s games, they still lack the confidence to win more than a few games this season. 8. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are in a difficult spot right now. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are currently at 0-3, which is far below what the East Division champions hoped for. Although Brandon Banks and Jeremiah Masoli were allowed to leave during the offseason, it didn’t work out the way they expected. In Winnipeg, Dane Evans threw another interception in Week 3. Both of them were interceptions that hit receivers directly in the hands. I don’t think the issues are with Evans; it’s more with a horrendous offensive line.

7. Toronto Argonauts

Although the Toronto Argonauts are not in the worst place in the standings, they are just one field goal away from being 0-2 this season. The team seems to be in a rut for most of the season so far, with questions at the quarterback position and a defense that has not been great. The boatmen won’t win a lot if McLeod Bethel Thompson and the Argonaut’s offense can’t find a way forward.

6. Ottawa Red Blacks

Sometimes, a bye week so early in the season can be a blessing and sometimes a curse. It can’t be bad for the Ottawa Redblacks. The Ottawa Redblacks started the season with a 0-2 record against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, losing in back-to-back defeats.

5. Saskatchewan Rough Riders

The Riders were not good enough against Alouettes and certainly not good enough against the Elks in week two, even though they won. After losing Dan Clark, it’s difficult not to be worried about their offensive line. The Alouettes sacked eight Riders’ quarterbacks on the night. I don’t think it’s time to hit the panic button just yet.

4. Montreal Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes were chosen as the East Division’s wild card by most at the start of the season. It made sense. Although there was some quarterback controversy, their defense lost a lot of pieces in the backfield; it looked like they were still a competitive team on paper with William Stanback as the running back. Three weeks later, a lot happened in the bird’s nest. Trevor Harris is now the starting quarterback. The defense is performing well and putting pressure on the quarterback. And they’re doing it without Stanback. Check out the top sports betting sites for betting on the CFL.

3. Calgary Stampeders

Bo Levi Mitchell’s old self is clearly showing that the Calgary Stampeders are their best selves. They have been able to do that for the past two weeks and are now off to a great start to the season. They will probably try to make their lives easier and have a lead at halftime. However, this team has been an excellent football team in the second half.

2. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Although the Winnipeg Blue Bombers won all three of their opening games, it was only week three against Hamilton Tiger-Cats when they looked like the superior team. The Blue Bombers have concerns offensively. The Blue Bombers are worried about Andrew Harris’ running skills, and Kenny Lawler’s absence has made them look elsewhere for help when they throw the ball. Greg Ellingson was a great addition to the Bombers, but Nic Demski has left the game with an ankle injury. The Bombers need to be hopeful that it is not something serious.

1. BC Lions

Many people had concerns about the BC Lions during the offseason. They have hugely proven everyone wrong. The Lions have outscored their opposition 103-18 in their first two games, an incredible feat is nearly unimaginable in the CFL. They beat the Edmonton Elks, who showed once more that they are better than last season and the Toronto Argonauts, who, on paper, don’t seem like a bad football team. It would be dishonest to leave Winnipeg at number one because of the last two seasons. Right now, the BC Lions have been the top team in the CFL.
