Bengals vs Chiefs Preview
The Kansas City Chiefs host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at 6:30 pm ET from GEHA Field, Arrowhead Stadium. The winner of this game heads to the Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, to face the winner of San Francisco/Philadelphia.
The Bengals defeated the Chiefs in overtime at Arrowhead Stadium last year as a 7-point underdog to secure a spot in the Super Bowl. They lost to the LA Rams 23-20 but still covered the 4.5.
The Chiefs were a 2.5-point favourite this year when they flew to Ohio and lost at Cincinnati (same score) 27-24
The Bengals beat Baltimore 24-17 at home as a 7.5-point home favorite and beat Buffalo 27-10 in the snow last week as a 6-point road dog in the divisional round.
Kansas City beat Jacksonville 27-20, despite being a 10-point favourite in the divisional round. They were given a bye in round 1.
Burrow and the Bengals travelled up to Buffalo, where safety Damar Hammer was present. They just physically beat them by rushing for 172 yards, passing for 240, and running for 243 in the snow. They also limited QB Josh Allen’s rushing to 64 yards and 261 passing yards, respectively. Burrow completed 23 out of 36 for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Joe Mixon was a great player with 105 yards and a TD on 20 carries.
Burrow is a better quarterback this year. Boomer Esiason and Ken Anderson are great examples of great Cincy quarterbacks. Andy Dalton is also a good choice. Burrow’s year has surpassed all of them with a team record in completions (414), pass attempts (606), and TD passes (35). He has completed 67.6% (for 451 yards) of his passes with three quarterbacks in the playoffs. He has also run for 40 yards and a touchdown. He is willing to take chances and has 12 INTs this season.
It helps to have weapons. Burrow has some of the best receivers in WR Ja’Marr Chase and WR Tee Higgins. Chase has missed four games with injuries but still managed to lead the team at 87 catches and 1,046 yards. Tee Higgins, WR (6-4, 215), is a versatile player who can spread the field and move the chains. He has 74 catches, 1,029 yards and seven touchdowns. Mixon’s year has been uneven, with only 3.9 yards per run and 814 yards rushing. Right tackle Jonah Williams (knee), G Alex Cappa(ankle), and OT La’el Collins are all out. For this game, TE Hayden Hurst (calf), is also in question, but looks ready to give it a go.
Defensively, Cincy allows 335.7 yards per game (16th) and 229.1 passing yards (23rd). Although they are strong against the run (116.6 yards allowed, 7th), it won’t really matter in this game. The Bengals gave up just 211 yards of passing to Mahomes in their last game and only 138 yards of rushing. Joseph Ossai and Sam Hubbard each had one sack. Trey Hendrickson leads Bengals with 8.0 sacks, while Vonn Bell leads interceptions with 4.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Tips
Patrick Mahomes is enjoying an MVP-caliber year, but what else? He is starting his fifth conference championship and has been a beast in the playoffs, with 28 passing touchdowns, and only three interceptions in 10 playoff starts.

Mahomes completed 22 out of 30 passes for 195 yards, and two TDs and suffered an ankle injury during the second quarter. Chad Henne came in to throw a TD pass while Mahomes had X-rays of his ankle. The results were negative. TE Travis Kelce catches 14 passes for 98 yards and two TDs. Isiah Pacheco was the leading rusher with 95 yards
Mahomes completed 67.1% this season for 5,250 yards, with 41 touchdowns and 12 picks. He is doing this without a true number-one receiver. He goes to Kelce (110 receptions for 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns), and RB Jerrick MacKinnon caught 56 passes this season for 512 yards with nine TDs. JuJu Smith Schuster is the leader among wide receivers, with 78 catches and 933 yards (13ypc), with three TDs.
Pacheco, a seventh-round draft, is a seven-round pick. He has 925 yards, 5 TDs have greatly improved the running game (115.9ypc).
If you’re an opponent defensively, you should be ready for DL Chris Jones (6-6/31). Jones, who had 15.5 sacks this season while Aaron Donald was out injured, was the most dangerous interior rusher in the game. The Chiefs are hard to beat when Jones is under pass-rush pressure. They give up 328.2 yards total (11th), 220.9 passing yards (18th), and only 107.2 rushing yard.
These two are closely matched in many areas; where the Bengals put this away is with the better-skill position players. I hear a tone of talk about Chris Jones, but he has never had a sack in a playoff game. Theat 13 straight games. Look for the Bengals to win the game by running with Mixon and Perine.
