The Blue Bombers were expected to be the best team, but week one was more challenging than expected. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on the CFL!
Chris Jones probably didn’t expect what happened to the Elks in week one, but everybody else did. This is a bad team at this moment.
The Alouettes are a team full of heart and refuse to give up. They were able to absorb the loss of William Stanback and built a 10-point lead. Even after Paredes’ field goal, Vernon Adams Jr.’s Hail Mary was closer than anyone could have imagined. The biggest concern now will be how long Stanback is out.
The Ticats must improve their offensive line play if they are to win against the Calgary Stampeders. The offensive line play must improve if they want to beat anybody, I believe it will, and the Ti-Cats should have a solid season.
On Thursday night, the Stamps settled into a veteran team mode and fought back against the Alouettes’ 10-point lead at halftime. As the fourth quarter ended, it seemed almost inevitable that Rene Paredes would be on the field to score the decisive field goal.
Wow. After an off-season filled with questions about Nathan Rourke’s ability to play as a starter and the Lions’ faith in him, the 24-year-old went out and produced one of the most impressive wins you will ever see in the CFL. Rourke will have ups and downs, but the opener bodes well for a Lions squad with tons of talent.
The revamped REDBLACKS roster for Week 1 looked good in a tough loss. Jeremiah Massoli was confident in the offence and did not hesitate to take on a tough Blue Bombers defence. Although they were disappointed to leave IG Field with a narrow loss, the REDBLACKS seem to be in a good spot for the upcoming season.
Although it wasn’t an impressive win, the Riders scored 18 points in the fourth quarter against six Ticats points. The Riders attacked Dane Evans defensively, sacking him six times and bringing down Matt Shiltz twice before it was over. Cody Fajardo passed the 300-yard mark and moved the ball well. He also found Kian Schaffer Baker for a stunning TD that broke the game open. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on the CFL!
After a successful training camp in Guelph, the Argos feel confident in what they have. The debuts of Andrew Harris and Brandon Banks are a great start. They’re a great addition to a team that was only 30 minutes away from winning the Grey Cup in 2022. This week’s debuts will be entertaining, and there should be many significant stories to follow throughout the season.
The formula was the same for many of the Bombers’ victories over the past couple of years: Stay in-game, make big defensive plays, and strike offensively when the opportunity presents itself. While Dru Brown’s final play for Zach Collaros was a nerve-racking twist, the Bombers’ QB’s passed their depth test against the REDBLACKS and picked up a win in difficult situations. Marc Liegghio, the kicker, wrote a lovely story about his redemption in Week 1. He made up for what appeared to be a costly missed conversion with a crucial game-winning field goal.
