One of college football’s most recognizable venues hosts a major Sunday night showdown as Wisconsin meets No. 4 Notre Dame at Lambeau Field. The Fighting Irish enter as 20.5-point favorites after finishing 10-2 in 2025 and closing the season with 10 consecutive victories. Wisconsin went 4-8 and is looking for a major turnaround under Luke Fickell.
Notre Dame’s offense revolves around quarterback CJ Carr, who threw for 2,741 yards and 24 touchdowns with only six interceptions as a freshman. The Irish averaged 41.8 points per game last season, and Carr enters 2026 with legitimate national-award expectations.
Notre Dame must replace star running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, making Aneyas Williams and Nolan James Jr. important early-season pieces. The Irish still return an experienced offensive line and dangerous receivers including Jordan Faison and Jaden Greathouse.
Wisconsin counters with perhaps one of the nation’s most intriguing transfer quarterbacks in Colton Joseph. The Old Dominion transfer threw for 2,624 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 1,007 yards and 13 scores in 2025. His mobility gives Wisconsin a dimension it desperately lacked during last season’s offensive struggles.
Running back Darrion Dupree returns after leading Wisconsin with 363 rushing yards, while tight end Lance Mason led the Badgers with 398 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2025.
Wisconsin’s best chance is to use Joseph’s legs, control possession and keep Carr on the sideline. Notre Dame, however, owns significant advantages in overall depth, defense and proven offensive production.
The thresholds below are recommended betting targets. Confirm official sportsbook player props before wagering.
Carr averaged more than 228 passing yards per game last season and threw at least one touchdown in all 12 contests.
Wisconsin’s defense was respectable in 2025, but Notre Dame has too many receiving options to remain conservative. Carr should have enough attempts to clear this number.
Joseph rushed for more than 1,000 yards last season and averaged 6.4 yards per carry.
Against Notre Dame’s pass rush, his scrambling ability may become Wisconsin’s most reliable source of explosive plays. Designed quarterback runs should also be a major part of the game plan.
Williams enters 2026 with an opportunity to inherit a much larger role after Notre Dame lost Love and Price to the NFL.
He has produced 443 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns on just 58 career attempts, demonstrating excellent efficiency when given opportunities.
Notre Dame should create multiple red-zone possessions, giving Williams a strong opportunity to score.
Notre Dame allowed only 17.5 points per game last season and returns most of the core from one of the nation’s strongest defenses.
Wisconsin should attempt to shorten the game with Joseph and the running attack. If Notre Dame builds a lead, the Irish could also lean more heavily on their ground game.
CJ Carr — Notre Dame: Returning starter who threw for 2,741 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2025.
Aneyas Williams — Notre Dame: Talented running back expected to receive a significantly larger workload.
Leonard Moore — Notre Dame: All-American-caliber cornerback and centerpiece of a defense that returns nine of its top 10 tacklers.
Colton Joseph — Wisconsin: Dynamic dual-threat quarterback who accounted for 34 touchdowns at Old Dominion last season.
Darrion Dupree — Wisconsin: Returning leading rusher who should play an important role in Wisconsin’s attempt to control possession.
Lance Mason — Wisconsin: Second-team All-Big Ten tight end who led the Badgers in receiving last season.

Notre Dame -20.5Under 47.5 Total PointsCJ Carr Over 225.5 Passing YardsColton Joseph Over 49.5 Rushing Yards
Joseph’s athleticism should give Wisconsin several opportunities to move the football, and playing at Lambeau Field creates a unique atmosphere that should heavily favor the Badgers’ fan base.
Notre Dame simply has more proven talent. Carr should eventually create separation through the passing game, while the Irish defense limits Wisconsin’s scoring opportunities.
Prediction: Notre Dame 34, Wisconsin 13.
