No. 4 Indiana looks to complete a perfect nonconference start Saturday when Western Kentucky visits Bloomington.
Indiana is 2-0 after overwhelming North Texas 52-16 and Howard 55-0. The Hoosiers moved to No. 4 in the latest AP Top 25 after their dominant start. Against Howard, Indiana produced 506 total yards, rushed for 296 and held the Bison to an incredible 57 total yards.
Western Kentucky enters 0-2 after a brutal opening stretch. The Hilltoppers lost 49-14 at Nevada before falling 70-20 at No. 2 Georgia. WKU managed 225 yards against Georgia, while backup quarterback Brock Glenn provided most of the offensive spark with 84 passing yards, 70 rushing yards and three total touchdowns.
Indiana is currently available around -44 to -44.5, while totals are ranging roughly from 59.5 to the supplied 60.5.
Exact player props may not be offered for this matchup. The numbers below are projected betting targets.
Hoover has thrown four touchdown passes in each of Indiana’s first two games, tying the program record with eight touchdown passes through two contests.
He needed only one half against Howard to throw four touchdowns. WKU’s defense just surrendered seven offensive touchdowns before halftime at Georgia.
Projected Bet: Josh Hoover Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns
Becker leads Indiana with 145 receiving yards through two games, including 81 against Howard. He caught three touchdown passes in that game after scoring twice against North Texas.
The biggest risk is playing time in another potential blowout, but Becker has shown he can produce huge numbers before halftime.
Projected Bet: Charlie Becker Over 64.5 Receiving Yards
Richard leads Indiana with 166 rushing yards through two games. He rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries against Howard as the Hoosiers averaged 6.4 yards per rushing attempt.
WKU surrendered 234 rushing yards to Georgia, including multiple explosive runs.
Projected Bet: Turbo Richard Over 69.5 Rushing Yards
Indiana has scored 107 points in two games, while Western Kentucky has surrendered 119.
Even if Indiana removes its starters early, Curt Cignetti has enough offensive depth to continue scoring. Backup Grant Wilson threw two touchdown passes against Howard after Hoover left the game.
WKU also showed enough offensive life against Georgia to contribute a touchdown or two.
Bet: Over 60.5 Points
Josh Hoover, QB, Indiana: Has eight touchdown passes and no interceptions through two games.
Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana: Leads the Hoosiers with 145 receiving yards and has become Hoover’s premier red-zone weapon.
Turbo Richard, RB, Indiana: Leads a deep rushing attack with 166 yards.
Lee Beebe Jr., RB, Indiana: Rushed for 112 yards against Howard, giving Indiana another explosive option.
Brock Glenn, QB, WKU: Came off the bench at Georgia and accounted for all three Hilltopper touchdowns.
Jaylen Wester, LB, WKU: Forced two fumbles against Georgia and has six forced fumbles in his college career.
WKU must survive the opening quarter. Georgia jumped ahead 21-0 in less than eight minutes, and another disastrous start would make an upset impossible.
The Hilltoppers also need to protect the football after two early fumbles helped Georgia build its huge advantage.
Indiana should establish Richard and Beebe early, creating easy play-action opportunities for Hoover and Becker.
Defensively, the Hoosiers need to maintain the standard they showed against Howard: five sacks, 12 tackles for loss and only 57 yards allowed.
Indiana has won all five previous meetings with Western Kentucky, although the last three were decided by only three points each. This year’s matchup looks dramatically different.
WKU has already lost by 35 at Nevada and 50 at Georgia. Indiana has won its first two games by 36 and 55.
A 44.5-point spread is enormous, but the matchup strongly favors the Hoosiers on both lines of scrimmage.
Expect Indiana to attack immediately, with Hoover finding Becker for early touchdowns before Richard and Beebe take control on the ground.
WKU should generate a few scoring opportunities once Indiana begins rotating reserves, but not enough to threaten the outcome.
Final Score Prediction: No. 4 Indiana 56, Western Kentucky 10
Best Bet: Indiana -44.5
Total Pick: Over 60.5
Moneyline: Indiana
Top Player Prop: Josh Hoover Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns
