10. Ole Miss

This ranking is a leap of faith, believing that the transfer portal will provide the necessary parts to keep the top 2021 SEC offense moving. It will still be fast and explosive, but it will still be challenging to control.

Ulysses Bentley (SMU), and Zach Evans (TCU),  are both great running backs. Jaxson Dart, a USC transfer, will be pushing hard for the quarterback job. Transfers are also about to ramp up the passing game. The O line must keep the defenses from the backfield.

9. Texas Tech

It’s OK; stats are important. Joey McGuire was brought in, the offensive coordinator that made WKU’s attack second in total yards. After fall camp, Zach Kittley can take the Red Raider’s attack to the next level.

Although Texas Tech may not yet have a starting quarterback, it does have three options. The running backs and receivers will excel in their respective roles, while the statistical stars will emerge.

8. Tennessee

All the Josh Heupel offense’s components kicked in immediately. It should now go up after being ranked ninth in the country overall. Hendon Hooker, a great quarterback, is starting to get his due. The receiving corps could be unstoppable if USC transfers Bru McCoy rolls. And the backs can crank up yards in chunks hinter a line with a lot of potential all-star talent.

7. Florida

Despite all Florida’s problems last season, it finished 15th in total offense. If you believe in QB Anthony Richardson, which you should, and if Billy Napier, the new head coach of the Gators, is going to roll the O and ground as he did at Louisiana, then you can bet the Gators will have a tremendous offensive season.

6. Wake Forest

The 11th-best offense in college football returns loaded at least in yards. AT Perry is the star of an outstanding wide receiver show. Four starters return to a strong line, and the rotation of backs will produce again. In a league filled with great quarterbacks, Sam Hartman might be the standout star.

5. Texas

Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorn’s new coach, has been under pressure from the beginning. But the talent level in Texas is high enough to win big.

Quinn Ewers, QB, is a star prospect. But, it’s not easy to assume Arch Manning will take over. Xavier Worthy, Wyoming transfer Isaiah Neyor, and Bijan Robinson could be the Heisman winner. The O line must be strong enough to get it done.

4. Utah

After years of pounding, pounding, pounding, it took some time to get used to a more dynamic attack. But this group is capable of grinding away. Cameron Rising was a great find, as he helped the Utes win the Pac-12. One question remains at wide receiver. It’s still a young corps, but the tight ends make it great. 3. USC

This offense is not one of the most exciting in college football. It will be a massive disappointment if it’s not. Lincoln Riley’s offense should feel a jolt from  Caleb Williams, RB Travis Dye and receivers Jordan Addison and Mario Williams, who all transferred from the portal. Look out, as long as the line does not disappoint.

2. Alabama

The O line has a lot of NFL-caliber blockers. The transfer portal helped the receiving corp, Gibbs could prove devastating, and it all has that Bryce Young guy. The offensive line needs to improve; wide receiver talent isn’t as high as it was over the past few years, running backs are OK, even though Jahmyr Gibbs, a Georgia Tech transfer, is excellent, and…

1. Ohio State

Last year, the Buckeyes averaged 561 yards per contest. This suggests that it may be more about its effectiveness or efficiency than big numbers. Last year, the O had to continue bombing because the D was not up to par. The defense this year will be stronger. The defense is more robust, which could cut down on the offensive numbers, but behind CJ Stroud, the Buckeyes will be explosive. The Buckeyes have NFL talent all across the board on offense.
