Is Syracuse a contender? In the eighth week of the college Football season, we will find out when they visit Clemson in a battle between two of the remaining unbeaten FBS teams.
The Orange improved to 6-0 this Saturday with an impressive 24-9 victory over North Carolina State. They lost quarterback Devin Leary in the win over Florida State, and he did not play against the Orangemen.
Even though the win over NC State was impressive, even with Leary missing, a win against Clemson would be a different universe. It would also completely alter the Atlantic Division race. It will be over if the Tigers can improve to 6-0 in ACC play on Saturday afternoon.
Syracuse won last Saturday against NC State, their fourth win over a Power 5 opponent this season. This is one less than the three previous seasons.
This alone speaks volumes about the leap they’ve taken this season. After entering the season with much speculation about his job security and coach Dino Babers, he looks safe now.
Can the Orange win Saturday’s Clemson game? While they will need to be flawless to do so, don’t discount their chances.
Syracuse boasts one of the top running backs in the nation in Sean Tucker and a dangerous running threat as a QB in Garrett Shrader.
Turner and Shrader didn’t get the usual number of touches because the Wolfpack had the ball for more than 35 minutes. However, they combined for 179 yards on 30 attempts against NC State. They allowed 4.1 yards per run and 113 yards rushing yards for the games.

Clemson Tigers Betting Tips
Although Clemson’s offense is not at the same level as we were used to, efficiency is improving, which will help them to be a winning team.
They didn’t beat NC State until the fourth period, and FSU was allowed back in the game after taking a lead of 34-14 midway through the third. They are not yet at the level they need to be.
Clemson is fifth in FBS for rushing yards allowed per carry (2.78). However, they surrendered 206 yards of rushing in the win over Florida State on Saturday, averaging 6.1 yards per carry.
Betting the game
Clemson will win the game, but -13.5 is a lot of points in this one. Syracuse will run the ball and turn this into an ugly affair. I think the Tigers pull it out in the fourth quarter but take the Orange and the +13.5 points.
