No. 15 Kentucky takes its four-game winning streak to Norman on Saturday night for an intriguing SEC matchup against Oklahoma at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Kentucky enters 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the SEC after consecutive overtime victories over South Carolina and No. 10 LSU. Oklahoma is 3-2 and 1-1 in SEC play after producing one of the biggest upsets of the season, knocking off No. 1 Texas 27-24 in the Red River Rivalry.
Kentucky jumped to No. 15 in the latest AP Top 25 following its 35-34 overtime win against LSU.
Matchup: No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats at Oklahoma Sooners Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026 Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET TV: SEC Network Venue: Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium — Norman, Oklahoma Tickets: As low as $66 Point Spread: Oklahoma -7 Over/Under: 43.5
This will be Kentucky’s first trip to Norman since 1980. Oklahoma leads the all-time series 2-1, with Kentucky’s only victory coming in the 1951 Sugar Bowl.
Kentucky has become one of the SEC’s biggest surprises under first-year head coach Will Stein.
The Wildcats have already beaten two top-10 opponents, winning 31-21 at then-No. 9 Texas A&M before defeating No. 10 LSU in overtime. Kentucky’s 5-1 start is its best since 2023.
Quarterback Kenny Minchey has been exceptionally composed.
Minchey completed 23 of 36 passes for 246 yards against LSU and scored the game-winning two-point conversion on a quarterback draw. He has attempted 178 passes this season with only one interception.
Running back C.J. Baxter gives Kentucky another major weapon.
Baxter rushed 19 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns against LSU, including a 77-yard run. He previously rushed for 149 yards against South Alabama and 87 yards with two touchdowns at Texas A&M.
Kentucky’s ability to remain balanced could be crucial against an Oklahoma defense coming off an emotional performance against Texas.
Oklahoma’s season changed dramatically in Dallas.
The Sooners entered the Texas game 2-2 after losses at Michigan and Georgia, then stunned the nation’s No. 1 team with a 27-24 victory on Tate Sandell’s 47-yard field goal as time expired.
Quarterback John Mateer completed 18 of 26 passes for 155 yards. He didn’t produce huge numbers, but he delivered two critical completions to Isaiah Sategna III on the final drive.
Mateer has thrown for 883 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions in four appearances this season.
Running back Lloyd Avant supplied the offensive spark against Texas, rushing for 72 yards on 10 carries, including a 42-yard run and a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Oklahoma’s defense and special teams ultimately decided the game. The Sooners scored on a blocked punt recovery, returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown and intercepted Arch Manning twice.
That opportunistic defense presents Kentucky with one of its toughest road tests.
College player-prop availability varies by sportsbook, so these are target numbers to consider if offered near these ranges.
Baxter has become Kentucky’s offensive workhorse and is coming off one of his best performances.
The Wildcats will want to keep Oklahoma’s pass rush from teeing off on Minchey, making another substantial Baxter workload likely.
Prediction: C.J. Baxter — 91 rushing yards
Minchey has thrown for 246, 272 and 252 yards in three of Kentucky’s biggest SEC games.
Oklahoma should force Kentucky to throw more than usual, particularly if the Sooners take an early lead.
Prediction: Kenny Minchey — 241 passing yards
Avant produced 72 yards on only 10 attempts against Texas.
Oklahoma should continue trying to establish him early to avoid putting the entire offense on Mateer’s shoulders.
Prediction: Lloyd Avant — 68 rushing yards
Mateer averages 220.8 passing yards per appearance and managed only 155 against Texas.
Oklahoma doesn’t necessarily need 300 passing yards to win. Its defense, special teams and running game can all contribute.
Prediction: John Mateer — 207 passing yards
Minchey’s ball security has been outstanding, and that will be critical against an Oklahoma defense coming off a two-interception performance.
Baxter gives the Wildcats a physical rushing presence capable of taking pressure off Minchey.
Mateer’s numbers against Texas weren’t spectacular, but he delivered under pressure on the game-winning possession.
Sategna caught the two crucial passes that moved Oklahoma into field-goal range against Texas and leads the Sooners with 331 receiving yards entering this matchup.
Kentucky needs to establish Baxter and protect Minchey. Oklahoma’s defense thrives on momentum-changing plays, so avoiding turnovers is essential.
The Wildcats also must prevent Oklahoma’s defense and special teams from scoring. Texas allowed two non-offensive touchdowns, which completely changed the Red River game.
Oklahoma needs more consistent offensive production. The Sooners beat Texas despite generating only 238 total yards, a number unlikely to consistently produce SEC victories.
The Oklahoma -7 spread means the Sooners must win by eight points or more for an Oklahoma spread bet to cash.
If Oklahoma wins by exactly seven, the bet pushes and the stake is normally returned. Kentucky +7 wins if the Wildcats win outright or lose by six points or fewer.
That makes Kentucky attractive against the spread.
The Wildcats have already beaten Texas A&M and LSU and have shown they can survive close SEC games. Oklahoma deserves to be favored at home after beating Texas, but its offense has not shown enough consistency to make laying a full touchdown especially comfortable.
The 43.5 total points toward a defensive game, and that fits both teams.
Oklahoma’s defense and home-field advantage eventually make the difference, but Kentucky refuses to go away.
Baxter keeps the Wildcats balanced, Minchey protects the football and Kentucky remains within one possession throughout the fourth quarter.
Mateer engineers one late scoring drive and Oklahoma survives another SEC thriller. With that being said a Kentucky upset is highly possible and with the odds the way they are picking Kentucky in the upset is a high value pick.

Final Prediction: Oklahoma 23, Kentucky 20
Oklahoma wins the game, but Kentucky +7 covers comfortably because the Wildcats lose by only three points. The projected 43 combined points also keeps the game narrowly under the 43.5 total.
