Cincinnati: Bearcats Looking for a Bounce-Back Performance

Cincinnati’s 4-0 start came to an abrupt end in Tucson.

The Bearcats managed only seven points against Arizona while allowing 522 total yards, including 238 on the ground. Cincinnati also came away empty after an 86-yard drive stalled at Arizona’s two-yard line.

The bye week arrived at a good time.

Before the Arizona loss, Cincinnati had scored 34, 62, 35 and 31 points in its first four games. The Bearcats entered their bye ranked No. 18 nationally with 230.8 rushing yards per game and had scored 17 rushing touchdowns.

Quarterback JC French IV gives Cincinnati a dual-threat element. Running back Cole Tabb had also emerged as one of the country’s most explosive runners before the Arizona game, averaging 11.1 yards per carry through Cincinnati’s 4-0 start.

West Virginia’s defense presents an excellent opportunity for a rebound.

The Mountaineers are surrendering 460.8 yards and 32.7 points per game, including an alarming 297 passing yards per contest.

West Virginia’s record does not accurately reflect how dangerous its offense can be.

Quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. is the centerpiece.

Running back Cam Cook has been even more productive.
