No. 10 LSU travels to Lexington on Saturday night for an intriguing SEC matchup against Kentucky at Kroger Field.
LSU enters 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC after crushing McNeese 63-14. Kentucky is 4-1 and 2-1 in conference play after rallying from a 17-point deficit to defeat South Carolina 35-34 in overtime.
The Tigers enter as 9.5-point road favorites, but Kentucky’s improving offense and a Homecoming crowd at Kroger Field could make this a considerably tougher game than the spread suggests.
Matchup: No. 10 LSU Tigers at Kentucky Wildcats Date: Saturday, October 10, 2026 Kickoff: 7:00 PM ET TV: ESPN Venue: Kroger Field — Lexington, Kentucky Tickets: As low as $284 Point Spread: LSU -9.5 Over/Under: 53.5
Saturday is Kentucky’s Homecoming game and Blue Out, adding another element to an already important SEC matchup.
LSU rebounded from its 32-24 loss at Ole Miss with consecutive dominant victories.
The Tigers defeated then-No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 before overwhelming McNeese 63-14. LSU piled up an incredible 731 total yards against McNeese, including a rushing attack that produced touchdowns from five different players.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt remains the centerpiece of Lane Kiffin’s offense.
Leavitt completed 18 of 23 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns against McNeese. One week earlier, he threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns against Texas A&M.
Running back Harlem Berry also appears to be hitting his stride. Berry rushed for a career-high 125 yards on 15 carries against McNeese and scored on an 11-yard run.
LSU’s defense may be even more impressive.
The Tigers held Texas A&M to only six points, limiting quarterback Marcel Reed to 106 passing yards while consistently applying pressure.
Kentucky will have to find a way to protect Kenny Minchey against a fast, aggressive LSU front.
Kentucky’s 4-1 record includes one of the SEC’s better road victories, a 31-21 win at Texas A&M, and now a dramatic overtime victory at South Carolina.
The Wildcats trailed the Gamecocks by 17 points before completing the biggest road comeback in school history.
Quarterback Kenny Minchey was excellent, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns. He then found tight end Willie Rodriguez for the game-winning two-point conversion in overtime.
Freshman receiver Kenny Darby has emerged as a major weapon.
Darby set career highs with 12 receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown against South Carolina. His 12 catches also established a Kentucky freshman record.
Nic Anderson contributed five receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown, giving Minchey multiple options in the passing game.
The question for Kentucky is whether its offensive line can hold up against LSU’s defensive front. Alabama overwhelmed Kentucky during the Wildcats’ only loss, beating them 45-17 at Kroger Field.
College player-prop availability varies by sportsbook, so these are target numbers to consider if offered near these ranges.
Leavitt didn’t need to throw much after LSU built a huge advantage over McNeese, but his 312-yard performance against Texas A&M better demonstrates his ceiling.
Kentucky should provide more resistance, meaning LSU may need Leavitt throwing into the fourth quarter.
Prediction: Sam Leavitt — 276 passing yards
Berry’s career-high 125-yard outing gives LSU another way to attack Kentucky.
If the Tigers establish a second-half lead, Berry should receive plenty of opportunities to control possession.
Prediction: Harlem Berry — 82 rushing yards
Minchey has already delivered productive performances against SEC competition.
He threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns in the victory at Texas A&M before producing 272 yards and three scores against South Carolina.
Kentucky could spend portions of Saturday playing from behind, increasing Minchey’s passing volume.
Prediction: Kenny Minchey — 248 passing yards
Darby commanded 18 targets against South Carolina and has quickly developed into one of Minchey’s favorite options.
LSU’s pass rush may force Minchey to get the football out quickly, which could create another high-volume afternoon for Darby.
Prediction: Kenny Darby — 71 receiving yards
Leavitt gives Kiffin the experienced quarterback needed to attack Kentucky vertically while also making plays outside the pocket.
Berry’s speed and 125-yard performance against McNeese could earn him an expanded role against the Wildcats.
Minchey has become increasingly comfortable in Will Stein’s offense. Kentucky needs another efficient night without costly turnovers.
Darby’s 12-catch performance showed that the freshman is becoming much more than a complementary receiver.
LSU needs to pressure Minchey and prevent Kentucky’s receivers from consistently winning underneath. The Tigers also need to establish Berry early and avoid becoming overly dependent on Leavitt.
Kentucky must protect Minchey and generate enough rushing production to prevent LSU from attacking every passing down.
The Wildcats also need a faster start. Recovering from a 17-point deficit against South Carolina was impressive, but attempting the same comeback against LSU would be extremely difficult.
LSU deserves to be favored after consecutive dominant performances, but 9.5 points is substantial on the road against a 4-1 SEC opponent.
Kentucky has already shown that it can beat quality competition, including its road victory over Texas A&M.
Still, LSU’s advantages along the defensive front and its deeper collection of explosive offensive weapons should eventually become decisive.
The 53.5 total looks reachable. Kentucky should score enough at home to contribute, while LSU has scored 35 or more points in four of five games.
Kentucky keeps this competitive into the second half behind Minchey and Darby, and the Homecoming atmosphere prevents LSU from running away early.
But Leavitt creates several explosive passing plays, Berry gives the Tigers balance on the ground and LSU’s defensive front produces critical stops late.
