The Maryland Terrapins travel to Ross-Ade Stadium on Saturday for a Big Ten matchup with the Purdue Boilermakers, with both teams desperate to end losing streaks.
Maryland enters 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the Big Ten after a 20-17 loss to Illinois. Purdue is 3-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play following a 31-17 defeat at Penn State. Maryland has now lost six straight, while Purdue has dropped three consecutive games.
Matchup: Maryland Terrapins at Purdue Boilermakers Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026 Kickoff: 12:30 PM ET TV: Big Ten Network Venue: Ross-Ade Stadium — West Lafayette, Indiana Tickets: As low as $9 Point Spread: Purdue -6.5 Over/Under: 57.5
Maryland and Purdue have split their four previous meetings, and this is Maryland’s first trip to West Lafayette since 2019.
The Purdue -6.5 spread means the Boilermakers must win by seven points or more to cover. Maryland +6.5 covers if the Terrapins win outright or lose by six points or fewer. Because of the half-point, there is no possibility of a push.
Purdue’s record doesn’t completely reflect how dangerous its offense can be.
Quarterback Ryan Browne has been one of the Big Ten’s more productive passers. Before the Penn State game, Browne had thrown for 1,822 yards, averaging 260.3 yards per game, while taking excellent care of the football.
Penn State limited him to 142 passing yards, but Browne still produced a 33-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Townsend.
Running back Fame Ijeboi gives Purdue balance. He entered the Penn State matchup with 568 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, including a massive 195-yard, three-touchdown performance against Minnesota.
Receiver Asaad Waseem is another important weapon. He entered Week 9 averaging 84 receiving yards per game and had already produced three 100-yard performances, including nine catches for 116 yards against Washington.
Purdue’s challenge is turning offensive production into consistent victories.
Maryland’s season has gone in the opposite direction after starting 2-0.
The Terrapins have lost six straight, but last week’s 20-17 defeat to Illinois was considerably more competitive than several earlier conference games.
Quarterback Malik Washington threw for 190 yards and rushed for a touchdown against Illinois. For the season, he has 1,805 passing yards, nine touchdowns and seven interceptions while averaging 225.6 passing yards per game.
Wide receiver Chris Durr Jr. has become Washington’s most reliable target. Durr caught six passes for 58 yards against Illinois, giving him 58 receptions this season.
Maryland averages 366.5 total yards and 26.9 points per game, but its defense allows 31.6 points and 371.6 yards per contest.
The Terrapins must avoid another game where one or two late defensive breakdowns erase an otherwise competitive performance.
College player-prop availability varies by sportsbook and jurisdiction, so these are target numbers to consider if offered near these ranges.
Penn State held Browne down, but Maryland presents a more manageable matchup.
The Terrapins have allowed 17 passing touchdowns through eight games.
Prediction: Ryan Browne — 268 passing yards
Maryland allows 153.1 rushing yards per game, giving Purdue an opportunity to establish Ijeboi early.
A Purdue lead would also increase his second-half workload.
Prediction: Fame Ijeboi — 86 rushing yards
Washington has averaged more than 225 passing yards per game and should have plenty of attempts if Purdue builds a lead.
Prediction: Malik Washington — 241 passing yards
Durr has four 100-yard games this season and ranks among the Big Ten’s leaders in receptions.
Prediction: Chris Durr Jr. — 74 receiving yards
Ryan Browne — Purdue: Browne gives Purdue the biggest quarterback advantage in the matchup and should rebound from the Penn State loss.
Fame Ijeboi — Purdue: Maryland must prevent Ijeboi from consistently producing five- and six-yard gains on early downs.
Malik Washington — Maryland: Washington needs to protect the football while making enough explosive plays to keep Maryland within one possession.
Chris Durr Jr. — Maryland: Durr’s volume makes him the Terrapins’ most important receiving weapon.
Purdue should attack Maryland with balance. The Boilermakers have Browne’s passing ability and Ijeboi’s power running game, making it difficult for Maryland to concentrate on one area.
Maryland needs to win on third down. The Terrapins are converting only 34.5 percent of their third downs while opponents have converted more than 41 percent.
Turnovers will also matter. Washington has thrown seven interceptions, while Browne has been among the Big Ten’s better quarterbacks at protecting the football.
The Purdue -6.5 spread requires the Boilermakers to win by at least seven points.
Maryland showed improvement against Illinois, but the Terrapins have not won since September 12 and remain winless in Big Ten play.
Purdue has also struggled recently, but the Boilermakers have more offensive balance and the advantage of playing at Ross-Ade Stadium for Homecoming.
The 57.5 total feels slightly high. Maryland’s latest game produced only 37 points, while Purdue managed 17 at Penn State.
Maryland stays competitive early behind Washington and Durr, but Purdue eventually takes control with Browne’s passing and Ijeboi’s rushing.
The Boilermakers generate enough explosive plays to create separation in the second half and end their three-game losing streak.
