Midweek MACtion brings a pivotal conference matchup to Oxford when the Buffalo Bulls visit the Miami (OH) RedHawks at Yager Stadium.
Both teams enter 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the MAC, tied near the top of the conference race. Buffalo has won three straight after beating Bowling Green 31-24, while Miami has also won three consecutive games following a 28-27 road victory over Central Michigan.
Miami enters as a 6.5-point home favorite, with the total set at 44.5.
Matchup: Buffalo Bulls at Miami (OH) RedHawks Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2026 Kickoff: 8:00 PM ET TV: ESPN Venue: Yager Stadium — Oxford, Ohio Tickets: As low as $23 Point Spread: Miami (OH) -6.5 Over/Under: 44.5
The Miami -6.5 spread means the RedHawks must win by seven points or more to cover.
If Miami wins 24-20, Buffalo +6.5 covers because the Bulls lost by only four. A 27-20 Miami victory would cover the spread. Because the line includes a half-point, there is no possibility of a push.
Buffalo enters Oxford playing its best football of the season.
The centerpiece has been running back Messiah Burch, who rushed for a career-high 184 yards and three touchdowns against Bowling Green. He has now surpassed 100 rushing yards in five consecutive games and leads the MAC at roughly 106 rushing yards per game.
Over those five games, Burch has piled up 745 rushing yards, averaging 149 per contest.
Quarterback Jason Wright has been less prolific statistically but has contributed important plays in key situations. He has thrown for 987 yards and seven touchdowns while adding a running element to Buffalo’s offense.
Receiver Chance Morrow gives Buffalo its primary passing-game threat. Morrow has 41 receptions for 480 yards and six touchdowns, leading the MAC in receptions per game.
Buffalo’s formula is clear: establish Burch, stay ahead of the chains and avoid turning the game into a pure passing contest.
Miami’s three-game winning streak has moved the RedHawks back into MAC championship contention.
Quarterback Caleb Heavner delivered an important performance in the victory over Central Michigan, throwing for a season-high 221 yards while accounting for two touchdowns—one passing and one rushing.
Miami is averaging 27 points and 358.1 total yards per game, with a rushing attack producing 141.1 yards per contest.
The biggest storyline, however, is Miami’s run defense against Burch.
The RedHawks are allowing only 97.1 rushing yards per game and 3.4 yards per carry.
That creates the defining matchup of the night: Buffalo’s hottest player against one of the MAC’s strongest rushing defenses.
Miami also has history on its side. Buffalo has not won at Yager Stadium since 2015 and is just 3-11 all-time in Oxford. Miami won last year’s matchup 37-20.
College player-prop availability varies by sportsbook and jurisdiction, so these are target numbers to consider if offered near these ranges.
Miami’s run defense is excellent, but Burch’s workload and recent production are difficult to ignore.
Buffalo’s offense is built around him, and he should receive enough carries to challenge 100 yards again.
Prediction: Messiah Burch — 103 rushing yards
Buffalo is allowing 227.8 passing yards per game, substantially more than it allows on the ground.
That should encourage Miami to attack through the air.
Prediction: Caleb Heavner — 204 passing yards
Morrow has emerged as Buffalo’s clear No. 1 receiver.
If Miami succeeds in slowing Burch, Wright will need Morrow to produce several important completions.
Prediction: Chance Morrow — 67 receiving yards
Miami has scored 28 and 34 points in two of its last three games and averages 27 points for the season.
Home field and Heavner’s improving play give the RedHawks a good chance to reach the upper 20s.
Prediction: Miami (OH) — 27 points
Burch is the biggest individual factor in the game. If he produces another 150-yard performance, Buffalo has an excellent chance to win outright.
Morrow gives the Bulls their best answer if Miami stacks the box against Burch.
Heavner’s 221-yard performance against Central Michigan showed he can generate enough passing offense when Miami needs it.
Huggins produced 122 receiving yards against Central Michigan and gives Heavner another dangerous downfield option.
Miami must contain Burch without committing so many defenders to the box that Morrow gets favorable one-on-one opportunities.
Buffalo, meanwhile, needs to avoid turnovers. The Bulls have lost eight fumbles this season, a dangerous number in what projects as a close conference game.
Miami should also test Buffalo’s secondary. The Bulls surrender nearly 228 passing yards per game, compared with Miami’s 217 passing yards per contest offensively.
Special teams could matter as well. Buffalo kicker Oliver Hautanen leads the MAC with 13 made field goals, giving the Bulls an advantage if drives stall near scoring range.
The Miami -6.5 spread requires the RedHawks to win by at least seven points.
That’s a meaningful number considering both teams are 5-3 and riding three-game winning streaks.
Buffalo’s rushing attack makes the Bulls dangerous, but Miami’s defense is specifically built to handle that strength. If the RedHawks hold Burch closer to 100 yards than 150-plus, Buffalo may struggle to generate enough passing production.
The 44.5 total looks slightly low. Both teams are capable of reaching the 20s, and a late score could push this game over.
Buffalo’s physical rushing attack keeps the game tight deep into the second half, but Miami’s defense makes enough stops to prevent Burch from completely taking over.
Heavner creates several important plays through the air, and the RedHawks use their home-field advantage to pull away late.
