Two SEC rivals meet in an early season matchup. This could help determine how the East Division looks as Kentucky and Florida face off in Week 2 from the Swamp.
Last season, Kentucky won this series for the first-time since 1986. They beat the Gators in Lexington.
Florida is now looking rejuvenated under Billy Napier as their 1st-year coach. His debut saw a surprise win over No. 7 Utah.
It won’t be as flashy or dominant as Georgia or Alabama and certainly not with the same talent as the best SEC West teams. It doesn’t matter.
The Wildcats will keep the game moving, generate defensive stops, and make it hard for teams to play at their own pace.
The RedHawks’ win against Miami University, 37-13, is not to be dismissed. The Redhawks have a dangerous defense that should be a factor for the MAC race.
Anthony Richardson will try to win through the air, as the defense prevents him from making moves on the move – the same plays made against MU in the backfield.
The offense also has a star prospect in quarterback Will Levis, who just completed a 303-yard performance. He will continue pushing the Gator secondary, which had problems with Utah’s passing game later on.

Kentucky would normally enter this match looking to grind it out – even if it wasn’t playing Miami last week – but star RB Chris Rodriguez remains out.
Kavosiey Smoke, UK’s running game, didn’t do anything against the RedHawks. The offensive line struggled to keep the backfield clean, and the O doesn’t have the same power as Utah in Gainesville.
Richardson was a major contributor to the success, but it was an elite Utah run defence that just got hit with 283 yards and more than seven yards per run. The Billy Napier offense is a master at getting its runners into space so Kentucky will have to control the pace even more than usual.
Betting the game
Last year, the Wildcats won in Lexington. This was only the second win in the series since 1986. However, it’s 2-2 in the last four seasons.
It was amazing to see Richardson get the victory over Utah. But Cameron Rising, the Ute quarterback, made a terrible decision to ensure that the Gators would survive.
UK has only one win in Gainesville from 1979 to this day. This is not likely to change.
The lack of a running game causes the Wildcats to come up short once again in Gainesville.
