Kurtis Rourke gets rid of the ball quickly – which helps neutralize any pass rushers – as part of an overall design to keep defenses guessing and keep up tempo. The Hoosiers also have an excellent running game and the offensive line is healthy and ready to go.
There is no need for frenetic action here; Indiana doesn’t try trickery on playacting offensively, while their defense remains solid against run play while limiting other teams passing game.
Indiana Hoosiers rank first in the Big Ten Conference for run defense, not allowing more than 137 yards on the ground and giving up 100-plus four times. Their ultra-disciplined team doesn’t miss tackles.
Notre Dame may not rely exclusively on running, but that’s exactly what they do best when they win. Grind, pound and everything else flows from there – Michigan proved this by only running for 69 yards against Indiana in its 20-15 defeat. The Hoosiers can handle the Irish running game and if they do it will all fall on Notre Dame Quarterback riley Leonard to get it done and I do not trust that.
