Week 9 TCU and Ohio State managed to get the job done along with several upsets in AP-Top 25 & nail-biters across the country. In Week 10 the SEC will be in the national spotlight with two Marquee Matchups as well as a fair amount of single-digit point spreads meaning tightly-contested games. The first Playoff Committee Rankings came out and they clearly don’t think much of TCU and love them some Clemson/ACC/LSU. Check out our guide to the best football betting sites.
#1 Tennessee vs. #2 Georgia: The Vols are the #1 team in the land and to be honest they deserve it having faced 5 AP-ranked opponents. Georgia started this season with a major statement beating the brakes off Oregon, since they’ve been taking care of business but did almost get beat by Missouri. Tennessee has a better offense and on top of that WR Cedric Tillman is back. Georgia has the advantage on defense. The Vols do a pretty good job at containing the run but horrible in the secondary which brings us to the outcome. A week passing ‘D’ and home field lends itself to the Bulldogs winning.
The Pick: Georgia +8
Spread | Moneyline | Total
#6 Alabama vs. #10 LSU: The Playoff Rankings committee love them some LSU. Don’t get me wrong the Tigers are on the upswing and have a close loss to FSU but were blown out by the Vols. The Crimson Tide should be a clear favorite however a date with their bitter rival at night in Death Valley screams close one. Eyeing that point spread no doubt but the biggest difference beyond QB Bryce Young compared to a solid QB Jayden Daniels is the lack of run defense on the LSU side. This SEC West matchup usually gets top-billing but make no mistake it will be on the table in the 4th quarter.
The Pick: LSU +13.5
Spread | Moneyline | Total
#4 Clemson vs. Notre Dame: The Tigers have 4 games left and have a legit chance to win out. The Irish took their lumps early but have steadied the ship to an extent although Notre Dame was a no showing against Stanford not all that long ago. Clemson is coming off a bye week so will see if they can get their offense figured out. The Tigers had to mount a comeback against Syracuse and Notre Dame ran away with it in the 2nd half against the Orangemen (Cuse without their starting QB). Two years ago QB DJ Uiagalelei was thrusted in to the starting lineup and played great. Can he get some of the good mojo back? For the most part Notre Dame’s offense has looked better since QB Drew Pyne got under center. Admittedly this College Football junkie is on the fence.
The Pick: Clemson -3.5
#13 Kansas State vs. #24 Texas: For some reason the Longhorns were favored at OKST then gave up a double digit lead and lost. Not only is Texas ranked they are once again road favorites against a legit team that just performed wonderfully by annihilating that same OKST team. The short lived hype on QB Quinn Ewers has worn off now and the Wildcats backup QB Will Howard has delivered of late. Controlling time of possession and turnovers are the key in this tightly-contested BIG-12 matchup.
The Pick: Kansas State +2.5
Iowa as a +3.5 road underdog upsets an inconsistent Purdue.
Baylor looked great last week can they keep it going by beating Oklahoma as a +3.5 road dog?
#23 Oregon State vs. Washington: The spread for this PAC-12 game went down a point but has popped back up in favor of the Huskies at home. Washington had a good start to the season but let the hangover from losing the UCLA trickle in to their loss to Arizona State. As of right now the Beavers won’t say who will be at quarterback but if Chance Nolan is out again it will be the serviceable Ben Gulbranson. Both teams at 6-2 both teams desperately needing a victory making for a barnburner. Weather should be a factor just a heads up.
The Pick: Washington -4.5
#21 Wake Forest vs. #22 N.C. State: This ACC-Pacific division affair will go a long way with staying ranked obviously as well as bowl positioning. The Wolfpack struggle on offense as far as passing whereas the Demon Deacons defense is suspect, the opposite of NC State’s “D”. Which Wake team will show up this week? The one that got blasted by Louisville or the one that got a solid victory at FSU? Wake will outscore N.C. State down the stretch.
The Pick: Wake Forest -4
Liberty +13.5 versus Arkansas
West Virginia +7 versus Iowa State.
(Honorable Mention: Texas Tech +8.5 versus #7 TCU)
-Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio State, TCU, Clemson, & Michigan.
-Kansas State’s destruction of OKST was the largest ever shutout versus AP Top-10 as the lower ranked program.
-The 48-0 blowout by the Wildcats dates back to the 1960’s as far as largest victory over top-10 opponent. Backup K-State QB Will Howard threw for 4 TD’s in the victory.
-USC QB Caleb Williams has thrown 5 touchdowns in back to back weeks for the Trojans.
-Illinois moved to 7-1 for the first time since 2001 beating Nebraska 26-9.
-UCLA bounced back on the strength of RB Zach Charbonnet’s 198 rushing yards and 3 TD’s in a 38-13 win over Stanford.
-Louisville scored 35 points in the 3rd quarter forcing 8 turnovers upsetting Wake Forest 48-21.
-Ole Miss RB Judkins rushed for 295 yards on 34 carries and a touchdown to help grind out a 31-28 win over Texas A&M.
-Cincinnati’s loss to Central Florida stopped a 38-game winning streak by the Bearcats over unranked foes dating back to 2018.
