BYU vs Notre Dame Preview

The Holy War in Sin City The Irish are wearing their all-icy whites, although Marcus Freeman, head coach, suggested Monday that the green jerseys were dry-cleaned and ready to go. Meanwhile, the Cougars were sporting all-black uniforms and a new helmet.

It was a spectacular spectacle for NBC’s national television audience. Notre Dame is 6-2, but it is the first ranking of BYU in the series. The Irish are not ranked above their name.

Since Vegas is BYU’s second home, it speaks volumes about Notre Dame’s universal following, that the Irish opened as small favorites.

This ticket is the perfect scenario for scalpers. We are even more content with this selection because of the loud underdog chants last weekend in college football.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Tips

Although the Ohio State 17-point coverage was strong, the 26-21 loss at home to Marshall was a disappointment. It did not cover against Cal again. The shootout win at North Carolina was the next.

It has a formidable arsenal that Notre Dame unleashed it in Carolina. It accumulated 35 first downs, just one shy of the program record that it set in a 48-0 victory over Army on Oct. 19, 1974.

Drew Pyne was able to throw touchdown passes from 10, 29 and 30 yards to three different receivers against Heels. Audric Estime rushed in for two quick TD runs, while Chris Tyree added another.

Pyne should be cautious of BYU’s junior rover Max Tooley (6-2), who has returned both his interceptions for touchdowns. This ties him with two other national chart leaders. Ben Bywater, a sophomore middle linebacker, also has two picks to help the Cougars.

BUY Cougars Betting Tips

The fifth-year junior quarterback, Jaren Hall warmed up for his final campaign by throwing for 2,583 yards last year with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions.

This season, he has been very dynamic with 1,438 aerial yards (a top-20 figure in the country) and 12 TDs. His pick percentage of 0.6 per cent is 11th best in the game.

Keanu Hill (6’4″, 210-pound sophomore) has done well under Hall. His average reception yardage is nearly 21 yards and he has scored four touchdowns. It’s also dangerous to note that BYU has three other receivers who have gained almost 200 yards through the air.

Chase Roberts (223 yards; 15 catches, 1 TD), a 6-4 redshirt freshman, has eclipsed this figure. Kody Epps (198, 21.3) and Brayden Cosper (192, 15.1) will be there Saturday.

Hall is not the only one with hammers. 6-1, 235-pound senior Christopher Brooks, a Cal Transfer, averages 6 yards per 49 runs and has tallied 4 TDs. Lopini Katoa (110 yards, 1 TD), and Miles Davis (1167 yards each) are short-yardage hammers.

They average almost 35 points per game, which places them in the top three of college football.

Betting the game

This is as close to a home game as BYU can get without playing in Utah but the Irish will have a lot of folks in the stands also. BYU QB Jaren Hall will be the difference as I like BYU in a shootout!

Prediction: BYU Cougars 38  Notre Dame Fighting Irish 31

Potential earnings

If you are betting on the Razorbacks to cover, the payoff will be solid, not great, and I think the Razorbacks will cover this game. For example, the odds as of a few days before the game are averaging -110 if you are betting the Razorbacks to cover. If you bet 100 on the Razorbacks +17.5, the payout would be around 91 dollars, which means you would get back the 100 you bet and the other 91 for winning the bet.  To me, the best bet is betting the razorbacks +17.5.
