The Big Ten looks like a weak conference with four good teams, and the rest of the league has major question marks. Check out the top football betting sites for betting on the Big Ten.
Georgia Southern is known for taking down teams that are in decline (ahem, Florida), but it shouldn’t have been close. The Huskers were outplayed despite it being close. The defense allowed 642 yards total, with 409 yards of passing. Although Quarterback Casey Thompson had some impressive numbers, it wasn’t enough.
Just when it looked like the Wildcats might be ready to make some noise, their inability to run the ball led to a bad loss against the Duke Blue Devils. The season-opening win against Nebraska doesn’t look that great anymore, as the Cornhuskers are a bad football team.
The Hawkeye’s offense, is just that offensive. The Hawkeyes have a tremendous defense but the offense is so bad it might not matter. They can’t throw the ball, and they can’t run the ball. The Hawkeyes are in trouble in the Big Ten this season.
The Badgers just lost at home to a middle-of-the-rung Pac-12 team! With games coming up against Ohio State and Minnesota, the Badgers look to be in trouble.
The Illini would rank much higher than this, if not for a loss at Indiana. The West looks more down than ever, and this could be the year Illinois can make a run at the west title. Granted, a win over Virginia is not overly impressive, but it’s still a power-five win against a decent team.
A lot of questions still are yet to be answered in Indiana, but the win against Illinois was solid, and this team looks to be in much better shape than they were during last year’s debacle. Connor Bazelak was solid for the second-straight week, and the run game was solid against Idaho. But the Vandals opened up a 10-point lead which it took into halftime, and the Hoosiers had to rally. They did so admirably, winning the game by 13 points. But a 13-point win against Idaho isn’t awe-inspiring for a Big Ten team. I do not expect the Hoosiers to stay in this top ten for very long.
I think we have seen this script many times over the last few years for the Terps. Look great against bad teams and then go into Big Ten play and find out your not that good after all. We are about to see that happen again.
The Boilers beat up an FCS team which is not that big of a deal. The hangover from the loss against Penn State seems to be gone though, as the Boilers did what they needed to do.
The Knights seem like they may be getting the program back on track. Sure, beating Wagner is not that big of a deal, but Rutgers looks like they have an excellent chance to start the season out 3-0, and the recruiting has picked up. A bowl game is not out of the realm of possibility for this team. Check out our top football betting strategies.
The Spartans did what they were supposed to do, but a road game at Washington this coming weekend will give us a better idea of how good the Spartans will be this season.
The Gophers, as of right now, are the best team in the West. They put up almost 700 yards against Western Illinois, which they should do. Colorado is up next, but barring injuries, Minnesota will be in Indy for the Big Ten Championship game.
The most impressive thing about this game was that the Nittany Lions might have found a rushing attack led by Freshman Nick Singleton, who rushed for 179 yards. If that continues, the Lions will be a factor in the race for the east.

The Buckeyes had a lot of issues with the Arkansas State passing game, and that win over Notre Dame doesn’t look so impressive anymore. The Buckeyes may not be tested until their last regular season game against Michigan.
Michigan looks like a team with very few flaws this season, and QB JJ McCarthy is the answer under center. The schedule has been weak so far, but they have manhandled the teams they have played and are showing no big weaknesses this season.
