Big Ten Football Power Rankings Week 9, 10/24/22

Publish Date: 10/24/2022

Power Rankings

14) Northwestern Wildcats

The Wildcats looked much better behind Brendan Sullivan, who started for Northwestern at quarterback and threw for 143 yards on 18-for-24 passing. Ultimately, it did not matter as the Wildcats fell to Maryland. Check out the top football odds.

13) Indiana Hoosiers

As you would expect, the Hoosiers jumped out to a 14-0 lead and completely blew it. Tom Allen should be fired, but the buyout on his contract means he will be the head coach in Indiana until next year. The Hoosiers are the first FBS school to lose 700 games.

12) Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Cornhuskers had a bye week.

11) Iowa Hawkeyes

If the Hawkeyes had just an average offense they would have been in this game. The lack of offense caused the defense to break eventually, and when it did, the game was over. It was so bad that the Hawkeyes defense outscored the Hawkeyes’ offense.

10) Michigan State Spartans

The Spartans were on a bye this week with a game against Michigan next up.

9) Purdue Boilermakers

The Boilermakers seemed destined to always lose to the Wisconsin Badgers, and it happened again this past weekend. They should get back on track with a game against the punchless Iowa Hawkeyes up next.

8) Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Rutgers spotted Indiana a 14-0 lead and then came roaring back to win their first Big Ten home game in 2,000 days.

7) Minnesota Golden Gophers

The Gophers have been in a tailspin for the last month, and they have gone from being the favorite in the west to just another bad big ten team. With Rutgers coming into town next, the Gophers will face a must-win situation.

6) Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers have been much more dynamic on offense since their coaching change a few weeks ago. They still have an outside shot in the west and are coming off an impressive win against the Purdue Boilermakers.

5) Maryland Terrapins

Struggling to beat Northwestern at home is usually not a good thing, but when you can grind out a win with your backup quarterback, it shows how tough a team you have. Check out the top football betting sites.

4) Illinois Fighting Illini

Illinois had a bye this past week.

3) Penn State Nittany Lions

The Nittany Lions bounced back strong after a tough loss to Michigan. Minnesota was without starting quarterback Tanner Morgan, but the Nittany Lions were dominant in this one. With Ohio State up next, Penn State needs to make a statement.

2) Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines are legit CFP contenders and will seriously threaten Ohio State in a few weeks.

1) Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State has been destroying everybody they have been playing, but their teams have not been that great. This week against Penn State should give us a better look at how good the Buckeyes are.
