Power Rankings

The Big Ten looks like a two-team race, and it’s Ohio State and Minnesota as they look to be the only two complete teams in the conference. Check out the top football betting strategies for betting on big ten football.

14. Nebraska Cornhuskkers

Nebraska did not play this weekend, and no doubt exists as to who the worst team in the Big Ten is.

13. Northwestern Wildcats

The Wildcats have already lost to an FCS team, and now they have lost to a MAC team as the Miami Redhawks travelled to Northwestern and beat the Wildcats 17-14.

12. Michigan State Spartans

The Spartans were coming off a loss to Washington, which was nothing compared to what happened to them this past weekend as Minnesota dominated the Spartans 34-7, and the game was not as close as the score would indicate.

11. Indiana Hoosiers

The Cincinnati Bearcats dominated the Hoosiers as they were outplayed and outcoached by a Cincinnati team that sent many players to the NFL last year. The quarterback play was bad, and the defense gave up 45 points. Really what did you expect from a team that struggled to beat Idaho a few weeks ago?

10. Purdue Boilermakers

Purdue struggled against Florida Atlantic, and the only reason they are this high is that the four teams below them are horrible.

9. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Scarlet Knights had a chance to show they had turned a corner, but in the end, it was the same old same old as Rutgers made multiple mistakes that killed any chance they had to prove this year would be any different than past years.

8. Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers were beaten and abused in Columbus, and they look like a bottom-half team in the Big Ten. They won’t compete for a West Championship as the defense is not very good this season. The Buckeyes completely throttled the Badgers offense and on defense Wisconsin was bullied by the Buckeyes.

7. Illinois Fighting Illini

While not impressive, a 31-0 win over FCS Chattanooga keeps the Illini on a winning track. Still, many questions exist, and the main one is how did they lose to Indiana?

6. Iowa Hawkeyes

The Hawkeyes went to Rutgers and quieted a raucous crowd with a stifling defense. The offense was still bad, and if they want to make any real noise in the Big Ten, the offense will need to do something, and I don’t see that happening. Check out the top football odds.

5. Maryland Terrapins

Maryland lost to Michigan, but they proved that this team might be different from the Terps of recent years as they went toe-to-toe with the Wolverines for a full 60 minutes. The Terps look to be a dangerous team this season.

4. Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State struggled some as they beat Central Michigan 33-14; the Lions struggled in the secondary against CMU, allowing 275 passing yards. We will soon find out how good Penn State is as in three weeks they play at Michigan.

3. Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines finally played a team with a pulse, and they struggled mightily, especially through the air as JJ McCarthy looked very average against a good Maryland team. It’s hard to imagine the Wolverines winning against Ohio state the way things stand now.

2. Minnesota Golden Gophers

Tanner Morgan was nearly perfect in a 34-7 win at Michigan State, and the defense shut out the Spartans until late in the game. If anybody in the Big Ten can beat Ohio State, it is Minnesota. The Gophers are a complete team and can beat you on the ground and through the air, and the defense is excellent.

1. Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes slow start to the season is now a thing of the past as they were dominant against Wisconsin on Saturday night. The Buckeyes defense seems to be finding their legs and the Buckeyes have more weapons than just about any offense in college football.
