This weekend’s SEC West clash will be a major one as LSU and Alabama, two ranked division rivals, square off in college football’s Week 10 action.
Alabama is coming off of an idle week, already having suffered one loss. The defending SEC champions are looking to make a comeback to the College Football Playoff.
LSU is currently has lost two games in, but has not lost in SEC West play. LSU’s offense has been improving weekly with Jayden Daniels, the quarterback, in Brian Kelly’s debut season in Death Valley.

Bryce Young, the defending Heisman winner, has fallen some in this years Heisman trophy odds. In the Tide’s last game Young passed 249 yards and two touchdowns but Jahmyr Gibbs’ ground game did notget much of anywhere. Gibbs ran for 37 yards, but the Tide only managed 29 yards of total rushing due to sacks and a mishandled balls.
Jaheim Oatis, a senior defensive tackle, and DJ Dale, a freshman nose tackle are both day-to-day with undisclosed injury. Oatis has 20 tackles as well as one of the Tide’s 23 sacks. Two sacks have been recorded by Dale. Both were against Mississippi State.
Jayden Daniels, a transfer quarterback, was responsible for five touchdowns and three passes when the Bayou Bengals overcame an 14-point deficit to win a 45-20 victory against Ole Miss.
Daniels has 1,812 yards of passing and also had 309 rushing yards and two touchdowns as LSU overcame a 13-0 deficit to beat Mississippi State 31-16 at their home Sept. 17. Daniels has only one interception in 236 pass attempts.
In their two most recent wins, the Tigers scored 45 points. They beat Florida 45-35 on October 15. Daniels passed for 349 yards with six touchdowns. Three passing and three rushing. Daniels holds a school record of nine rushing touchdowns. John Emery Jr., the reserve running back, is in question with an Achilles injury.
Alabama is 10-1 SU and 6-4-1 ATS in the yearly series since its 21-0 victory in the 2011 BCS title game that ruined LSU’s undefeated season. Both teams are 5-3 ATS this season. LSU is 4-2 ATS at home and Alabama 1-2 ATS on the road.
The Tide is 7-1 SU and 5-2-1 ATS after a week off since 2014, with five of those byes coming before the LSU game. The Tide is 1-0-1 in the two games played in Baton Rouge during that streak. LSU is 4-1 SU and 5-0 after a bye since 2019, 2-0 ATS against Alabama with both games in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers covered as a 29-point underdog in a 20-14 loss at Alabama last season.
Brian Kelly is bringing his LSU Tigers back to life after a top-10 win against Ole Miss. Every Alabama fan will acknowledge that the Tide have been shaky this season and not performed well in big games. Alabama has done well in Baton Rouge the last decade. Although I believe Alabama will win, 13.5 points seems a lot. Outside of a bad loss at Tennessee the Tigers have been progressing weekly in a direction that makes me think that the Tigers will put up a major fight against the Crimson Tide.

If you are betting on the Tigers to cover, the payoff will be solid, not great, and I think the Tigers will cover this game. For example, a few days before the game, the odds are averaging -105 if you are betting the Tigers to cover. If you bet 100 on the Tigers +13.5, the payout would be around 96 dollars, which means you would get back the 100 you bet and the other 96 for winning the bet.
