1) The Georgia Bulldogs are the best team in college football

Arkansas is an excellent football team, and on Saturday, they looked terrible. They looked awful because the Georgia Bulldogs are that good. Through 5 games, the Bulldogs are giving up less than 5 points per game, and they are headed towards being one of the most significant historical defenses in College Football history. They will have to prove it against Alabama, but they have the talent to do it.

2) The Cincinnati Bearcats have a legit shot at the playoffs

The ACC is down, the Pac 12 is down, and the Big 12 is down. That all helps the Bearcats cause. The Bearcats have a suffocating defense and an explosive offense. They will need more consistency from Quarterback Desmond Ridder to have a real shot at a National Championship, be he is capable of doing it. It also helps with a road win over Notre Dame. The real question will be how the rest of the Notre Dame season pan out because if the Irish could end up ranked in the top 15, the win will carry a lot of weight with the playoff rankings.

3) The Kentucky Wildcats are a top 20 team

Head Coach Mark Stoops has done a remarkable job at Kentucky, and a win over Florida should put Kentucky in the top 20. First, however, Stoops needs more recognition for the job he has done as the Wildcats coach.

4) The Pac 12 is dead for a Playoff spot

UCLA lost, Oregon lost, and even though they upset UCLA, Arizona State lost to BYU at the start of the year. The Conference is not challenging enough for any team to rebound and get back into playoff consideration.

5) Penn State vs. Iowa Game of the Year so far

This coming weekend Penn State will battle Iowa in a preview of the Big Ten championship games. Both teams’ strength is on the defensive side of the ball, and it will be interesting to see if Sean Clifford can succeed against the Iowa defense as he has had against everybody else.

6) Michigan is back

Penn State and Iowa look like the two best teams in the Big Ten but don’t sleep on the Michigan Wolverines. The Wolverines are dominant at the line of scrimmage, and even though they are not the prettiest team, don’t underestimate their chances at winning a Big Ten title.

7) Manny Diaz is in trouble

Miami Hurricanes fans are getting tired of the losses, and Manny Diaz has not turned the program around as expected. The Canes started the year with high expectations, at least until midway through the first quarter of the Alabama game, when it became painfully apparent that nothing had changed. The ACC is very weak this season, and the fact they can’t compete in a weak conference means that unless the Canes get real hot, real quick Manny will be fired.
