The Big Ten should be very competitive from top to bottom, and as we saw with the Northwestern upset of Nebraska, anything can happen in Big Ten play. It seems safe to assume the Ohio State Buckeyes will win the Big Ten. Check out our top football odds to bet on College Football this season.
Minnesota must throw the ball more often than last season. Only the Navy and Army attempted fewer passes in 2021. The offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca should make Quarterback Tanner Morgan more effective. He was there when Minnesota won 11 of its 2019 games. After tearing his Achilles last season, Tailback Mohamed Ibrahim is back.
Ohio State will have two Heisman trophy finalists. Stroud looks like a lock for New York if he continues from 2021. He completed 71.9%, for 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns. Six interceptions. His second season as a starter should see him improve. Either TreVeyon Henderson running back, or Smith Njigba, receiving, who combined for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns as a freshman, will be heading to New York with Stroud. If Ohio State’s offense is as strong as it claims, all three could be deserving. I expect the Buckeyes to finish the season in the CFP.
Frost will not make it through the season. Frost is one of Nebraska’s most beloved sons. His tenure at his alma mater, Nebraska, has been a disaster. Frost’s four seasons as Cornhusker coach saw them go 15-29 and haven’t reached a bowl game. His salary was reduced by $1 million, and his buyout will be cut to $7.5million after Oct. 1. When I wrote this article, Nebraska was still a day away from an unexpected loss in Dublin to Northwestern. The Wildcats upset the Cornhuskers on the strength of coaching. Scott Frost seems in over his head.
