Ohio State Buckeyes Preview 2022: Offense
It was impossible to stop the offense. It was ranked No. 1 in the country in total offense, No. 1 in scoring, and 2 in third-down conversions (Noāthree in passing, and so on.
Michigan might have had to slow it down to win. Even in the Oregon loss, the attack rolled for more than 600 yards. But even so, the attack threw for nearly 400 yards.
The receiving corps has a few stars, and some new guys are on the line. But, nothing is impossible thanks to…
CJ Stroud. He may not have been as fast as Justin Fields, and it was a slow start at times. But Stroud is a better overall quarterback than Fields.
Stroud, a Heisman front-runner and possible No. 1 pick, is beyond brilliant. The 2023 NFL Draft’s potential No. 1 pick threw for 4,435 yards, 44 touchdowns and six interceptions. He completed 72% of his throws. Kyle McCord may not be Stroud, but he is a skilled backup who can produce for short periods if necessary.
Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson are about to destroy the NFL. But Jaxon Smith Njigba, the NFL’s leading receiver with 95 catches, is back. He’s still the best college football receiver,
Marvin Harrison Jr. is a rising star. Emeka Egbuka and Julian Fleming will get more work. To replace Jeremy Ruckert, Cade Stover will have to fight Joe Royer for the tight end position.
Trey Veon Henderson would make a great Heisman front-runner
and a leading star in the offense for almost anyone else. He was able to run for 1,255 yards, 15 scores, and 312 receiving yards and still fly under the radar.
Nationally, Miyan Williams’ 504 yards of offense and three scores (averaging more than seven yards per pop) were mostly silent; that’s how good the Buckeyes’ offense was… Behind another great line, the backs will rock once again.
The offensive line was great in pass protection and excellent for the ground game. Now it has enough talent to be even better.
Luke Wypler is a rising star at center. Paris Johnson and Dawand jones are NFL-caliber tackles, and the guards have excellent skills. These five will make a great starting lineup, but it needs to improve in depth. Check out the top

Ohio State Buckeyes Preview 2022: Defense
It wasn’t terrible. The defense was not great, considering the talent Ohio State has. However, it got better as the schedule became more manageable. It allowed 20 points or less in seven of nine games.
The run defense under Jim Knowles, who is from Oklahoma State, must be more potent, and the secondary must come up with more plays.

There’s a lot of talent at linebacker with the shift to a more 4-2-5 system. Tommy Eichenberg was second on the team with 64 tackles at his position in the middle of the linebacker and was also a top tackler last year.
Steele Chambers will likely remain at the weakside after a 47-tackle year, but there are many options.
Haskell Garrett, the leading sacker and top tackle, is out, but the line will continue to do its job if it can hold up against the run.
Taron Vincent is an intense nose, and Jerron Carage is an expert at tackle.
There will also be a steady rotation at the end. JT Tuimolau, Zach Harrison, Jack Sawyer, and Javontae Jean Baptiste are regular. The D has many options.
The secondary must be more disruptive. You have the talent and experience to do more. Tanner McCalister, who followed Knowles from Oklahoma State, should play a significant role at Nickel.
Ronnie Hickman, a free safety, led the team in tackles by over a mile with 98. Josh Proctor leads a promising group of strong safeties.
Although the interceptions were distributed, the corners must be more prominent factors. Denzel Burke is a potential NFL talent and a keeper. Cameron Brown is back on his side after racking up seven last year.

Michigan State is currently on the road. There are three games in four weeks, including Penn State and ā be very, very cautious of this ā Maryland.
Ohio State should be strong enough to be a double-digit favorite against anyone, but it will likely lose one game when everything is working for the other side.
