The Sooners had no problem with TCU a few weeks ago but I think this will be a very competitive game as TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson is one of the most underrated coaches in College Football and he will make the adjustments needed to have a chance here.
If any defensive coach can figure this out it’s TCU’s Gary Patterson, who maybe the best defensive mind in all of College Football. Mayfield and the Sooners offense has been unstoppable all season and I think that the key is this nobody can hold the Sooners under 28 points. But can TCU keep the Sooners in the low thirties and then out-score them?
Oklahoma won the first meeting against TCU 38-20 and it was a game that was not as close as the score. Oklahomans jumped on TCU early and the game was a done deal by half-time. It will be almost impossible to play catch-up against the Oklahoma offense and win the game.
If the Horned Frogs want to beat Oklahoma they have to cover well enough to make Baker Mayfield uncomfortable and get him out of rhythm (see Iowa State). The Cyclones made Mayfield uncomfortable in the pocket and showed he was human. It will not be easy to do, but they can win if they can do this.
Prediction: I think the Frogs will make the adjustments they need to make this a close competitive game. Baker Mayfield is still the Heisman Trophy winner no matter what happens in this game and I think he will make the plays necessary to pull this game out in the end, but don’t be surprised if the Frogs can pull the upset.
Oklahoma 31 TCU 27
