BMO Field will host Sunday’s match between the Toronto Argonauts (0-0) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-1) when Bo Levi Mitchell and Chad Kelly take to the field as the quarterbacks for their respective teams. Hamilton opens as 2.5-point underdogs while O/U stands at 46.5.
As far as scoring goes, the Toronto Argonauts were fifth in the CFL with 24.6 points per outing averaging last year. Last season they passed for 4,733 yards and an average of 262.9 pass yardage per game which put them third overall in CFL passing yards per outing; additionally, they averaged 81.7 rushing yards per game to total 1,470 total rushing yards and an impressive 344.6 yard/outing average which placed them sixth overall in CFL play.
The Toronto Argonauts allowed 23.6 points per game (PPG), ranking them fourth in the CFL. Over the course of last season, they gave up 425 total points; giving up 1,843 yards via ground play (102.4 yards/game) as well as 12 touchdowns via rush; this put them 9th overall in league standings.
Bo Levi Mitchell went 17/33 with 200 yards through the air and had one touchdown and one interception in the Ti-Cat’s opening season game. James Butler led their rushing efforts, breaking a long run of 16 yards while scoring one TD. James carried 11 times for 66 yards, averaging an impressive average of 6 yards per carry! Tim White led in receiving yardage with four receptions totalling 71 yards, averaging 17.8 average catch distance per catch during this contest. The question has to be Mitchell who seems to be losing arm strength, he truly does not look like the player he once was.
To me, the Argos are clearly the better team; with that being said, they are playing a Hamilton team that already has a game under their belts. This is the season opener for the Argonauts so it’s hard telling what we will get from them. I like Toronto and I love a bet on the under in this game.
