McMahon Stadium is the site where and the Calgary Stampeders (1-1) will play the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-1) on Saturday. This is a battle between teams that should be somewhere between 4-6 for most of this season. If anybody challenges the big three it will probably be one of these teams.
The Stampeders defeated the Redblacks 26-15. Dedrick Mills led his team in rushing, with a 23-yard run and one touchdown, on 19 carries for an average of 5.0 yards per run. Reggie Begelton earned 141 receiving yards on eight receptions (an average of 17.6 per catch), while Jake Maier passed 22/33 but couldn’t convert into any touchdown passes before throwing an interception in this contest.
Last time out, the Roughriders met up with the Blue Bombers and lost by a score of 45-27. Trevor Harris passed for 413 yards with three touchdown passes en route to finishing without throwing an interception. Jamal Morrow led his team in rushing yards with 25 on six carries for an average of 4.0 per carry; Tevin Jones led in receiving yardage with 121 on nine receptions, giving him an average catch distance of 13.4 yards per catch for this contest.
Saskatchewan Roughriders have amassed 755 total yards this season. As a unit, they average 94.0 yards on the ground per contest – placing them fifth overall in the league. Saskatchewan has scored four touchdowns via air, and none via running means while scoring 22.0 points per game overall.
The Riders’ defense could be a concern after giving up 45 points, but the Blue Bombers may be the best team in the CFL, and that could skew things a bit.
This game, to me, is an almost even matchup; with that being said, I will take the Riders and the points. This seems like a three-point game to me, so that means a plus four and the Riders are good value in this game. Either way, it should be a great game.
