These two teams finished the regular season on different streaks as the Alouettes come into the playoffs flying high, winners of five straight games. Hamilton, on the other hand, lost their last two games, including a 22-20 game to the Alouettes. So if momentum means anything the Alouettes have the upper hand headed into this game.
Montreal enters the postseason riding a five-game win streak, which saw them complete regular season play with an 11-7 record.
The Alouettes have suffered only defeat against teams with better records – Winnipeg, BC and Toronto.
They suffered four consecutive losses against these teams during a difficult stretch between late August and mid-September, yet managed to finish strong and finish the schedule with positive momentum.
Montreal ended their two-game losing streak with a 28-11 victory at Calgary before defeating Ottawa 32-15 before winning 29-3 against the Redblacks back home.
The Alouettes then defeated Edmonton by 35-21 before defeating Hamilton at home 22-20 in a playoff preview.
Hamilton enters this playoff matchup having dropped its last two regular season contests to finish 8-10 overall.
The Tiger-Cats suffered an inauspicious three-game start, losing 38-12 when hosting playoff opponents Montreal for their home opener.
However, they managed to pull it together between early September and early October and won four out of five games to clinch postseason eligibility.
Hamilton won 27-24 at Ottawa and 29-23 against Winnipeg at home before rebounding from their 29-14 defeat at Toronto with 22-15 wins over Calgary and 38-13 victories against Saskatchewan.
The Tiger-Cats fell in their last two regular-season games, 33-30 to BC, before suffering an 11-20 setback against Montreal.
You have to go with the home team, especially when they are at home and have won five straight games. The Tigers Cats are good enough to pull the upset here, but the point spread value is with the home team at -2.5. I expect a close game, but Montreal prevails 27-23 and covers the spread!
