These look like the two best teams in the CFL now, and it should be a great game. Zach Collaros vs Vernon Adams should be fun to watch. This game will tell us a lot about where these two teams stand, as the CFL looks like a top-heavy league.
In their most recent contest against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Blue Bombers earned a win by a score of 45-27. Brady Oliveira led their rushing attack with 42 yards on ten attempts – his longest run was 11 yards, but he wasn’t able to rush for any touchdowns on that day. Dalton Schoen led receiving yardage with an impressive total of 145 on 8 receptions for an average catch length of 18.1 yards for this matchup. At the same time, Zach Collaros went 23/31 with 293 yards passing and 2 touchdowns while finishing without throwing an interception!
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look like the most complete team in the CFL and with a strong defense added on to an outstanding offense they look like the team to beat.
Last time out, the Lions faced off against the Edmonton Elks and won 22-0. Vernon Adams completed 25/35 passes for 312 yards while tossing one touchdown. Taquan Mizzell led in rushing that day by covering 18 carries for 93 yards which averaged out to an impressive 5.2 yards per carry average; Jevon Cottoy led in receiving yardage with 54 yards off 5 receptions which averaged out to an incredible 10.8 average catch distance per catch during that contest.
The BC Lions have amassed 845 yards over the course of this season and average 127.0 yards via ground play, placing first in their league.
The Lions rank first in the Canadian Football League when it comes to opposing scoring, giving up only 7.5 PPG on average. They allow 5.8 yards per rush and 72.5 rushing yards per game this year for a total of 145 given up so far through two games played. Passing yards allowed have totaled 248 which places them second among league opponents with 124.0 yards given per outing alongside an acceptance percentage of 56.9% per pass attempt in both outings while giving up 196.5 total yards/outing thus placing them first among CFL opponents.
Can the Lions defense continue to dominate? They can but will they is a totally different thing. These are two of the best three teams in the CFL and should be a highly competitive game. In the end, I think the Bombers cover this game with a strong fourth quarter. Take the Bombers to win 27-17. Take the Bombers and give the 6 points.
