MANILA, PHILIPPINES - APRIL 09: Senator and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, together with his wife Jinkee, takes part in a motorcade as he campaigns for the presidency on April 09, 2022 in Manila, Philippines. Pacquiao is trailing well behind in the latest opinion polls against frontrunner Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., the son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, but has refused calls to back out from the presidential race amid alleged unity talks among candidates in a bid to stop another Marcos presidency. The former boxer who has won world titles in a record eight weight classes has made fighting corruption a centerpiece of his campaign, vowing to jail corrupt politicians and to strengthen efforts to recover the billions of dollars missing since the fall of the Marcos dictatorship. The two highest-paid athletes in boxing history are supposed to fight exhibition fights over the next few months; why? They should be enjoying all of their riches. Not these two, as they are continuing to hurt boxing with stupid, needless exhibitions. Why risk your health fighting Tubers etc… Could they both be broke? Did Floyd ever pay Logan Paul for their exhibition? Manny had well-known issues with not paying taxes etc… The logical conclusion is that they have both blown all the money they have made, and it’s a damn shame that it has turned out this way for two all-time great boxers. Of course, historically, that has happened to the greats like Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis, I could go on forever here, but I would end up writing a book! Now, maybe Floyd hasn’t blown it. He did bank over one Billion dollars during his career, but why continue to fight even in for what the most point have been staged exhibitions. Check out the

Gofers and security. His entourage, ‘Team Pacquiao,’ accounts for a significant portion of the fighter’s outgoings. According to the New York Times, the entourage includes “trainers, assistants to trainers,” advisers and assistants to advisers, cooks, and dishwashers. They also include car washers and publicists.
Brin Jonathan-Butler pointed out that Pacquiao spent hundreds of thousands of dollars flying to Las Vegas (for the fight), purchasing hundreds of hotel rooms and providing spending money.” It is clear that his band mates are on the Pacman Express all of the way to the bank.
His contract would be divided if Pacquiao were to make $40 million from a fight:
– 20% to his manager, 10% to his trainer Freddie Roach, and Justin Fortune, his strength and conditioning coach

After all, Pacquiao would still have 65% of his earnings, which amounts to $26 million before taxes. His wages would be affected by the training camp expenses and the above-mentioned ‘Team Pacquiao.
Some believe Pacquiao’s most significant flaw is his desire to please everyone. This hurts his finances, as it is not surprising. Pacquiao sent a lot of money back to the Philippines and dedicated his fight against Brandon Rios to helping those who were affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
“I will send assistance to those who most need it, and I ask you all to pray for our country in these difficult times.”
Pacquiao is a hero in his country. The congressman has been elected to public office, which is another financial burden. He ran for President, another considerable expense.
Manny Pacquiao may be hiding something more dangerous than his ability to jab and hook. It is his gambling. Pacquiao is said to have lost millions of dollars due to his gambling addiction and is desperate to keep fighting.
Jinkee, Pacquiao’s wife and mother to his five children, is no stranger to spending.
SB Nation talked to Leon Gast, a filmmaker who spent time filming a documentary about Pacquiao. He said that Pacquiao’s excessive burn rate was alarming. He claimed that Pacquiao was gambling and giving vast amounts of money to the Church. Check out the

“You don’t know what kind of tithe they are paying now that he has cleaned up his act. Everyone is free to do what they want. Manny cannot say no to anybody. The entourage. The charities. Lawsuits. Taxes. The Philippines is about to have a fucking presidential election. Jesus. All the taxes he has to pay on his Los Angeles real estate and all that he pays back in the Philippines. His staff is hired to say no
when people approach him openly. You wonder why he keeps borrowing money from Bob Arum. He’s still borrowing money, despite all the substantial pay-per-view paydays. Boxing is exactly such a… it’s a miserable sport.
According to some reports, Bob Arum, a boxing promoter, has loaned money to Pacquiao in advance payments.
It’s not cheap to keep a family of seven together. Pacquiao’s passion for expensive cars, his yacht and his helicopter, add up to the costs.
Pacquiao is fighting an exhibition out of necessity to pay his bills and nothing else.
Who is DK Yoo?
Pacquiao, who turns 44 in December, has not fought since a unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas, who retained his WBA “super” welterweight title, a title that once belonged to Pacquiao.
The legendary Filipino boxer retired a month later and pursued a presidential run in the Philippines. He landed third in the election.
As for Yoo, the Korean YouTuber DK Yoo previously fought MMA fighter Bradley Scott in a pay-per-view event. Scott outclassed Yoo in the six-round bout, though no official results were given. So what’s the point in all of this? The fact is that Pacman has blown through his money and needs to make it somewhere.
Will you hold Manny to the same standard as all Pacqiauo fans who made fun of Floyd for fighting exhibitions? Probably not! If Floyd is still fighting these staged setups and it leads to a rematch between Floyd and Manny, we will know they are probably both broke.
Does this hurt Manny and Floyd’s legacy? Doesn’t it have to, especially when we have seen Floyd already fight staged-scripted events with McGregor and Paul?
