Oleksandr Usyk became the first undisputed Heavyweight Champion since Lennox Lewis did it a quarter of a century ago; yes, it’s been that long since a True Heavyweight Champion reigned. Will it look like the IBF is ready to strip him if he gives Tyson Fury an immediate rematch? The IBF has a Heavyweight title eliminator scheduled between Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgovic coming up, and the winner would be the mandatory challenger for Usyk’s title.
The IBF said that if Usyk didn’t defend against the winner of the fight, they would strip Usyk and have the winner of that eliminator battle, Anthony Joshua, for the IBF title belt. As usual, something great happens in boxing, like the Usyk/Fury fight, and instead of capitalizing on it, Boxing will once again shoot itself in the foot. The Alphabet organizations have destroyed boxing, and it’s been happening for years. This would be like the Kansas City Chiefs beating the San Fransisco 49ers in the Super Bowl and then a month later having the 49ers battle the Ravens and claiming the Winner is also a Super Bowl Champion.
For all you young fans out there, you cannot have more than one world champion! What makes it even more comical is that Usyk has beaten Joshua twice and knocked out Dubois less than a year ago. How does this make any sense to anybody? The Aplahbet organizations are corrupt and only interested in lining their pockets with sanctioning fees.
Usyk should pull a Riddick Bowe, toss all of his belts in a garbage can, and announce that he will be fighting the best competition and keeping all of his hard-earned money. Why keep giving these corrupt[t organizations more and more money for doing nothing? Boxing is a cesspool and the main reason is because of these corrupt organizations.
Younger fans act like the belts matter, and it’s laughable. Hell, every time Canelo fights, the WBC creates a new title belt to give to him. It seems 90 percent of Boxers hold a title belt at this point in time. My dream as a youngster was not to someday hold the WBC interim inter-continental Middleweight title.
Just look at the Heavyweight division. How often did we see Deontay Wilder on a list for the most heavyweight title defenses? Hell, Deontay was never a heavyweight champion, he did hold a bull shit belt, but that was all it was. They want us to believe that Anthony Joshua won the Heavyweight title from Charles Martin. Who is Charles Martin? I will tell you who he was: he was a tough guy who gave great effort, but he was nowhere near a championship-caliber fighter.
The sad thing is the Heavyweight division has improved in the last couple of years, and Uysk/Fury looks like a 50/50 fight again with Anthony Joshua seemingly finding his courage again the smart move would be to let Usyk fight the rematch in the Fall or Winter while Joshua fights the winner of Hrgovic/DuBois and next summer the two survivors meet.
In the four-belt era, a big deal is made every time the four belts are unified, but weeks later, somebody gets stripped, and we go back to square one. It’s tiring for Boxing fans and has chased many fans away from the sport. Fury/Usyk was a great matchup, but Tyson vs Paul will get more attention(If they actually Fight)! Oleksandr Usyk has proven that he is a great fighter, the sanctioning bodies need to recognize this also and stay out of his way.
