When Lucas Browne was belted by Paul Gallen in April, the world saw him as a washed-up former heavyweight champion. However, Browne proved to everyone that he still had the power by defeating Kiwi boxer Junior Fa on Sunday. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on Boxing!
The 43-year-old boxer snatched his victory by two monster rights which resulted in a knockout. When Browne landed the first monster right, Fa was already struggling to get off the canvas, but the referee allowed the match to continue.
Meanwhile, Browne said that the referee should have stopped the fight right after that. “He shouldn’t have been allowed to continue, he was wobbling everywhere, but as soon as he (the referee) said keep going I thought all right, another one is coming,” Browne said.
Browne’s huge frame allowed him to throw a lethal right overhand that knocked Fa out midway through the first half. Even if Fa hadn’t been awake, he was in a dangerous situation.
Fa attempted everything he could to stay in the arena. Fa’s decision, unfortunately, provided Browne with another opportunity to smash the back of the skull.
The referee, Jeffery Eddy, did not consider Browne’s attack to be a violation. Eddy, on the other hand, paid little attention to the match and pinned the TKO victory at 1:58 in the opening set.
Many boxing experts, including Barry Michael, a former boxing legend who now works as a commentator, had urged Browne to retire prior to this sweet victory.
But Browne showed that it is not the time yet and Michael eventually acknowledged it. “Well done, Lucas – he’s having a crack at me because I basically thought he should retire, but he just proved me wrong,” Michael said. Check out the top new sportsbooks for betting on Boxing!
Even after defeating Fa with a mortal blow, Browne left the ring shouting “I never left.” Confidently, he shook the hand of everyone he could reach in the arena.
With age, strength is the last thing a heavyweight player will lose. This does not apply to Browne, who proves that at his current age, his strength is still great and capable of delivering deadly blows to opponents.
With his current record of 31-3 (27 KOs), Browne believes he has the power to take down anyone in the world. Related to this, Brown tries to control himself so he doesn’t hurt other people outside the arena.
Lucas Browne is an Australian heavyweight boxer who competes in the division. Browne has been a professional athlete for the past 13 years.
Browne, who was 29 at the time, made his professional debut on March 20, 2009, against Jason Kier, and won by knockout (KO). Lucas Browne was crowned WBA heavyweight champion on March 5, 2016. Ruslan Chagaev, the world champion, was defeated by the Australian.
After losing to Chagaev in Russia in 2016, his victory this time was his best. Browne was defeated not only by Chagaev but also by several other opponents.
For instance, Dillian Whyte defeated him in 2018. Browne was also trounced by Kamil Sokolowski in 2019, despite showing his best efforts.
