Parker-Joyce was a difficult fight, given that Parker, a former WBO champion, fights on Sky. On the other hand, Joyce fights on BT Sport with Frank Warren as his promoter.
Parker (30-2, 21 kos), and Joyce were expected to fight last April. However, they did not reach an agreement. Parker, the #2 WBO and #3 WBC Parker, just won a unanimous 12-round decision over Derek Chisora at the AO Arena in the UK. This was a significant improvement from Parker’s first fight against Chisora. If you are going to bet on Parker/Joyce, check out our best betting strategies for boxing.
“BT Sport Box Office (UK) will televise this fight, sources stated,”
This would be a huge fight in the UK, but to put it on PPV is a joke! This is not a PPV-level fight in any sense of the word.
Joyce (14-0, 13KOs) has been looking amazing lately. He defeated these strong fighters by knockout.
Despite his slow hand speed, “The Juggernaut”, #1 WBO, #2 WBC, and #5 IBF have surpassed most other heavyweights in this division.
One could even say Joyce is the top heavyweight competitor in the division and should be considered the favorite against Parker.
Parker, a New Zealander, is a skilled fighter but has come up short in his biggest fights against Andy Ruiz Jr, Dillian Whyte, and Anthony Joshua.
Parker fought bravely against Chisora in their May 2021 first fight.
Many boxing fans thought that Parker’s 12-round split decision victory over Chisora was controversial.
Make no mistake; Parker is all-around a better fighter than Joyce. Joyce is slow on foot and is there to be hit. The problem so far for his opponents has been that you can hit Joyce, but you can’t hurt him. Can Parker put a dent in Joyce? That is highly unlikely, and I will go with Joyce in this fight as I believe he will walk through Parker’s punches and win a war of attrition late.
This is a great matchup for boxing fans, and the next two months will be packed with must-see fights, and this will be one of those fights.
