Devin Haney out-boxed George Kambosos on Saturday Night in Australia to become the undisputed Lightweight Champion. What did we learn from this fight? Best Bookmakers for betting on Boxing!
Joe Tessitore is horrible; someone needs to let him know that he doesn’t have to talk every second of the broadcast! Tim Bradley sounded like Devin Haney’s daddy during the fight. He was so one-sided that it was laughable. And as always, every time I watch a fight and Mark Kriegel is on the broadcast; I wonder who he has naked pictures of to keep him working. To be fair, DAZN and the others are not much better, but when Joey T is talking during the ring walks, it pisses me off!! I want to hear DMX sing X going to give it to you, not listen to Joey T; tell me how this is probably the biggest fight in the history of fights.
Lucas Browne was my favorite story of the night as the 13-1 underdog shocked everybody by knocking out the much younger Junior Fa in the first round. My issue is, why do we have to listen to the three stooges talk for over an hour while a fight is going on in the background? From the start of the regular broadcast at 9 pm est until 11:30, we saw precisely four rounds of Boxing while having to see the same preview clips repeatedly. ESPN needs to realize that if you want people to watch Boxing, you will need to show them Boxing!
Kambosos’s fight plan was terrible from the start as, for some reason, he decided to try to outbox Haney; of course, that did not work and for a supposed Greek Warrior who calls himself 301 because he wants to be like the Spartan Warriors in the movie 300, he fell far short of that. I’m sorry. I know every boxer is a Warrior and to be respected, but Damn, if you are going to talk all of that shit, at least try to do something to back it up! Teofimo Lopez has to be kicking himself after watching Haney dominate Kambosos; tonight proved to me that Lopez could not handle success and took Kambosos lightly. I’m not going to lie; Haney is worlds ahead of Kambosos in Boxing ability, and after last night that can’t be questioned. The thing that impressed me the most is he didn’t quibble about money to make the fight, and on top of that, he travelled thousands of miles to fight Kambosos and fought in front of a hostile crowd. Haney’s jab was brilliant, and his defense made Kambosos look like an amateur at times. I do not think that we would ever see Tank Davis take short money or go to a foreign country to fight, but Haney did, and that’s a rarity in this day and age. Haney’s ability to control Kambosos was brilliant. He does lack power which at some point could be a huge deal, but as of right now, he is the undisputed lightweight champion of the world. Haney has already achieved more in his career than Tank Davis, and he is much younger than Tank. Why is that? Haney wants to be great, and Tank is just out for the money. Will they fight? At some point, maybe, but that’s probably not going to happen this year. At some point, Tank will have to step up and take a big fight against somebody; at least, I hope he does. If that fight is against Haney, Tank will have his hands full. Today let’s celebrate that a young Boxer took a chance last night, and it paid off big-time for him.
