WBA ‘Super’ World light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (210-0, 11KO) will defend his title in Abu Dhabi when Gilberto Ramirez (44-0; 30KO) meets him at the Etihad Arena.
The Russian champion Will defend his WBA title for the ninth time. He only rose to prominence against Canelo in his last defense, when he defeated him to claim the WBA crown.
His ninth challenger was known as “Zurdo do Oro”, which means “Golden Southpaw”. The 31-year old Mexican achieved his title by becoming the first Mexican to win a super-middleweight world title.
Bivol is a long-range fighter who loves to keep his opponents off the end of his jabs and straight punches. Bivol’s footwork suits his style perfectly. He likes to make small steps to keep his opponent from getting too close and dictating his suiting. He is a tall, strong fighter who relies on his quick feet to defend himself.
