World Cup Golden Ball Betting: Best Sportsbooks for Betting on the Best Player

World Cup Golden Ball: A complete overview of the award

The FIFA World Cup Golden Ball is the award given to the best overall-performing player of the tournament. Several metrics are taken into consideration for this award, beyond objective stats like goals, assists, and key passes.

The decision makers also take into account match impact, dribbling, and leadership skills. This makes it different from World Cup Golden Boot betting, which is 100% stats-driven.

How is the Golden Boot Award decided?

Two steps of the process eventually decide which soccer players win the Golden Boot Award at the World Cup:

1. Shortlist – Experts from the FIFA Technical Study Group create a shortlist.
2. Vote – A selected committee of accredited media representatives votes on the Golden Boot Winner from the players in the shortlist.

Determining factors

We listed some of these above, but here’s a full rundown of player performance metrics that determine who ultimately wins the award:

• Goals
• Assists
• Chances created
• Dribbles
• Key passes
• Defensive actions
• Match impact
• Leadership skills

When and where is the award given out?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball award will be given to the winning player on the pitch after the 2026 World Cup Final is concluded. The FIFA 2026 World Cup Final will take place on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Before we get to the Golden Ball betting odds, we have to tell you that FanDuel is one of the few apps that has World Cup 2026 streaming rights. This means that you can watch all 104 matches live in the app while you place your pre-game and in-play wagers.

In addition to match betting, you can also find an array of World Cup futures markets and specials. This includes player awards like the Golden Boot and the World Cup Golden Ball. The odds are always competitive and updated regularly.

As a new bettor in most available states, you can get $150 in Bonus Bets if you deposit $5 and bet $5 on any sports market and win. The minimum deposit across the site is $5, which is the joint-lowest you’ll find in the US.

You can download the FanDuel app and bet from inside any of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, DC, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, TN, VT, VA, WV, and WY. DraftKings -Sportsbook – World Cup player props

DraftKings Pros & Cons

• Extensive daily fantasy integration
• Frequent promotions and bonus offers
• Highly competitive betting odds
• Wide variety of casino games

Visit DraftKings

Betting on the World Cup Golden Ball winner provides great potential value, even though the low probability incurs risk. However, it’s a long-term wager, so you might want to keep yourself entertained in the meantime. That’s where DraftKings’ detailed soccer player props bets come in.

As well as betting on your overall Golden Ball winner, you can also wager on their statistical performances in key matches throughout the tournament. Besides the usual player props like total goals, assists, and first goalscorer, you also have more detailed props. These include shots, shots on target, fouls, and yellow/red cards.

The welcome offer at DraftKings is $100 in Bonus Bets when you sign up, deposit, and bet just $5. You get this bonus regardless of whether your qualifying bet wins or loses.

The age limit for DraftKings is 21+ in most available states, and 18+ if you’re in DC, KT, NH, or WY. In terms of state availability, you can wager on WOrld Cup matches at the DraftKings Sportsbook from any of these locations: AZ, CO, CT, DC, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MO, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, VT, VA, WA, WV, and WY.

BetMGM Sportsbook: The best sportsbook for World Cup futures and specials

BetMGM Pros & Cons

• Wide variety of betting options
• User-friendly mobile app interface
• Generous promotions for new users
• Extensive selection of casino games

• Limited availability in some states

Visit BetMGM

The World Cup Golden Ball award is an example of a futures betting market, as it involves wagering on a long-term outcome rather than an individual match. BetMGM offers over 20 World Cup futures markets. Including the Golden Boot, Golden Ball, and the World Cup winner.

Additionally, there’s also a “Specials” tab next to the “Futures” option in the World Cup section of this sportsbook. Here, you can find unique futures, such as which confederation the World Cup winner will come from, or which team will score the most goals during the tournament.

The welcome bonus here is a no-sweat bet up to $1,500, which means that you get the value of your first wager back as Bonus Bets if it loses. The minimum deposit limit at BetMGM is $10, but you need to wager at least $20 to be eligible for this bonus.

Lastly, the BetGM Sportsbook has a 21+ age limit regardless of which state you’re betting from. Speaking of states, this site is available to bettors in AZ, CO, DC, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MS, MO, NJ, NV, NY, NC, OH, PA, PR, TN, VA, WV, and WY.

The best World Cup Golden Ball social sportsbooks

If you live outside of the 30+ states where real money online sports wagering is available, there’s still a way to back your World Cup Golden Ball predictions. Legendz and Thrillzz are the top social sportsbooks with free bets, where you can wager on the World Cup using virtual currencies instead of real money.

Both of these social betting apps are always free to use, with extra GC purchases being entirely optional. Moreover, as we will explain below, both of these apps use a dual virtual currency system, which means you can bet for fun and in promotional mode for the chance to redeem eligible SC for real prizes.

Legendz – A World Cup social sportsbook and sweepstakes casino

Legendz: Pros and Cons

• Available in most US states
• User-friendly interface
• 24/7 live chat support
• Top sports coverage

• Can be tricky for new players

Visit Legendz Casino

Legendz is a combined social sportsbook and sweepstakes casino. As well as betting on the Golden Ball and FIFA 2026 World Cup matches, you can also play over 2,000 casino-style games, including slots and more.

If you bet using Gold Coins (GC), you can back your predictions just for fun. With the promotional Sweeps Coins (SC), you can redeem real prizes if you win, meet the 1x playthrough requirement, and reach a minimum of 50 SC (gift cards) and 100 SC (cash prizes).

The welcome offer for new Legendz players aged 21+ is 500 GC and 3 SC. You can access this site from anywhere in the US besides California, Connecticut, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, and Washington.

Thrillzz – The best World Cup social betting app

Kalshi – The top 2026 World Cup Golden Ball predictions market

Kalshi: Pros and Cons

• Find markets via search facility
• Extensive range of prediction markets
• Clear fees system
• Large help center

• Limited promos for existing customers

Visit Kalshi

Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated financial exchange in the United States, and not a standard online sportsbook. Rather than placing wagers against the house, you can trade event contracts on the platform by being matched with other users.

For the World Cup Golden Ball predictions market on Kalshi, all listed players have Yes/No event contracts that are priced between $0.01 and $0.99 to reflect the percentage they have of winning. For example, if Lamine Yamal has a 12% chance of winning, his “Yes” contract would cost roughly $0.12.

Once the market is resolved, the correct contracts close at $1.00 and the rest at $0.00. You receive a payout by making correct predictions and lose money if you’re incorrect. That’s one of the many reasons why prediction markets are risky.

Kalshi is available in all 50 states, but there are restrictions and possible impending bans in Arizona, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, and Ohio.

• Market runs throughout the tournament

• Subjective awarding that’s hard to predict

World Cup Golden Ball betting 2026 – Conclusion

To sum up what we’ve learned, the Golden Ball is the award that will be given to the best overall soccer player at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The shortlist for the award is decided by the FIFA Technical Study Group, and the eventual winner is voted on by a group of media representatives.

You can bet on the Golden Ball and other World Cup futures on the top US sportsbooks that we’ve recommended in this article. If real money wagering isn’t legal in your state, you can try betting for fun at social sportsbooks or Klashi’s prediction markets. Just be aware that using Kalshi is risky, and the legal landscape on prediction markets in the US is moving fast.
